Boxed Set. Poetry. Drama. Fiction. Literary Nonfiction. Music. Third Man Records presents its new imprint Third Man Books. Our first release, the boxset LANGUAGE LESSONS: VOLUME I, contains a 300+ page hardbound book of poetry and prose, two vinyl LPs of music, and five frame-worthy broadsides. An anthology, LANGUAGE LESSONS highlights unpublished work by Frank Stanford, Sampson Starkweather, besmilr brigham, Jake Adam York, Joshua Marie Wilkinson, Sommer Browning, Steve Stern, Dan Boehl, Ben Mirov, Daniel Pujol, and C.D. Many emerging writers are featured, too, next to Pulitzer Prize nominees and National Book Award finalists such as Adrian Matejka and Dale Ray Phillips, and punk rock-n-roll progenitors Richard Hell and Tav Falco. For the ears, the double-album includes poetry recitations by LLVI authors and unreleased music from the likes of William Tyler, Destruction Unit, Paul "Wine" Jones, and MacArthur prize- winning jazzer Ken Vandermark. To hang on the wall, the broadsides feature poems by C.D. Wright, Frank Stanford, and Jake Adam York, with original art by former Big Boys guitarist Tim Kerr, and folk artist Butch Anthony, Nashvillian Rachel Briggs, and more.

"A mighty object to behold... enchanting... a complicated, intriguing development in the power struggle between the analog and the digital."—LA Review of Books
"A big part of what Jack and I talk about all the time is art is music, music is poetry, poetry is music, they're all the same, and the lines are constantly blurred, so let's do a project where they are blurred... It's all about the love of language."—Ben Swank
"The Third Man project originated from a weekly poetry series in Nashville that attracted both ends of the poetry spectrum—established national award winners (Pulitzer Prize nominees Dale Ray Phillips and Adrian Matejka) and complete unknowns such as local bartenders, teachers and even a mortician. Both are side-by-side in the book for a purpose."—Mark Guarino, Chicago Tribune
