About the Author
Charles Clayman MD is the author of more than 60 publications in scientific journals and texts. He is Medical Editor of around 30 books and series, including the American Medical Association's Home Medical Encyclopedia, Home Medical Library, and Family Medical Guide. For the past 20 years, he has been a contributing editor to the Journal of the American Medial Association. Dr. Clayman has been an internist-gastroenterologist, as well as a teacher, for more than 35 years, and he is currently an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University, Illinois. A special interest in the safety and effectiveness of newly available medical technology led him to help set up the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association's Technology Evaluation Program. Dr. Clayman is a consultant to the Association and the Michigan Plan.
