I would like to ask the author Gary Althen what he means when he writes in the American Values and Assumptions article that ..."Despite these limitations, Americans are generally more direct and open than people from almost all other countries....They will not try to mask their emotions, as Scandinavians or Japanese tend to do." What the heck do you mean by the Scandinavians masking their emotions?!?!? I am Scandinavian, and i have Japanese friends, and there is no way you can compare these two things between these two countries. I dont understand this, what is this based on? I am trying to understand this. I was born and raised in Scandinavia and never did i think we masked our emotions. If we do, it is definitely not in the same range as the Japanese people do it. Even my friends, both american, scandinavian and japanese, were surprised when i told them about this part in the article. I would be greatful if Gary Althen could explain this part to me. Thank you. Sincerely, Lillamy
