Synopsis
So, You Want to be a Pro? It's a must-read for anyone who aspires to be the top in their game, to be the next Michael Jordan, the next Mark McGwire or the next John Elway. Or just the best in your chosen field.
What do you need to do to beat the odds? How would you handle yourself? Pellom McDaniels, a defensive lineman in the National Football League, spells it out like no one has done before.
Pellom McDaniel's dream to play football in the Pop Warner league did not get off to a flying start. And the rejection from his stepfather didn't make it any better. "He told me I was fat, I was a mama's boy and other mean things".
But somehow, McDaniels never let go of his dream. Academic problems wiped out his sophomore season of football in high school. Better grades and night school later helped solve that problem.
The reality of life without football hit when he was injured at Oregon State. "When I got hurt, my eyes opened up and I realized there may not be a future in football".
All the obstacles thrown in his path laid the foundation of his strength to persevere. Against the odds, he achieved his dream to play in the NFL.
