Babar and his family are delighted that Celesteville is hosting the international games. Its an opportunity to see the best athletes in the world in action and to meet people from other countries. Everyone looks on in wonder as gymnasts fly through the air, divers make a splash, and cyclists race to be the first to cross the finish line. Babars daughter Flora is particularly smitten with Cory, a pole-vaulter from the country of Mirza. When Cory asks Flora to marry him, everyone works together to throw them a wonderful wedding in Mirza. This tale about sportsmanship, love, and diversity will enthrall children.

Laurent de Brunhoff has been writing and illustrating the Babar books since 1946, continuing to bring to life the beloved elephant family created by his father, Jean de Brunhoff. He has produced more than 30 books. He divides his time between Middletown, Connecticut, and Key West, Florida.
