It's baby Beanie Garbanzo's second birthday. He has one thing only, on his mind: cake! When his big sister and brother, Ima and Jake, are dispatched on their unicycle to fetch it, Beanie (with pet monkey Harry) tags along. At the bakery, Jake decided to see if the cake (which sports wings) really can fly. It does -- right onto the top of a passing car, and away! So Ima, Jake, Beanie and Harry follow in a hair-raising cake chase that leads them nearly over the edge of a cliff. Meanwhile, though, back at home, Mr. and Mrs. Garbanzo realize that their child is missing. So they shoot themselves out of a cannon, then parachute down, just in time to save Ima, Jake, Beanie, Harry, And the cake and get everyone home in time for the party. Then, at the party, just after he blows the candles out, Beanie does what he's always wanted to do with his birthday cake -- jump in. "Yummo!" he cries, and so will readers as they delight in the fun of this delicious picture book.
