Synopsis
Newbery Award winner Karen Cushman returns with her newest novel based in times long past. The author of Catherine Called Birdy, The Midwife's Apprentice, and Matilda Bone returns to 19th century America as she did for The Ballad of Lucy Whipple with a novel based in a history -- the Orphan Trains of 1850s America. Between 1854 and 1929, more than 100,000 homeless and poor children were rescued from the urban streets and sent, via orphan trains, to new homes in rural America. In "Rodzina," Cushman will bring listeners a fresh perspective on that experience.
