Hector the hermit crab is very shy. He avoids contact with other creatures whenever possible. But one day a flower appears on his shell, and suddenly Hector becomes the focus of everyone's attention. He thinks his fellow crabs aren't friendly, but he is soon proved wrong:the others compliment him, much to his surprise, and he learns that making friends isn't nearly as difficult as he'd imagined.
This vibrant and uniquely illustrated picture book has a childlike humor and simple message that will be felt deeply by anyone who has ever wished to crawl into a shell and hide.

About the Author
This is
Katie Boyce's first book for children. It was originally conceived as a project in her illustration course at Kingston University. She says of the book, "I wanted kids who were shy to be able to relate to Hector. He discovers that when he actually starts talking to the other crabs it isn't so scary after all." She lives in England.
