What I Would Tell Her.
I would tell her that she makes me forget things. Crucial things, like the concept of time. I would tell her that the other day I showed up at noon for a 4:30 dentist appointment. I would tell her that the two of us carry on a running dialogue in my head, about the traffic report and the Laker's problems at point guard. I would tell her that I force myself to think about her, in the hope that I will start thinking about something harmless, like sailboats. I would tell her that I believe in destiny and fate and magicians' secrets, and that there is no such thing as a wrong time for that which is bound to happen. I would tell her what Shakespeare said, which was "Make use of time. Let not advantage slip." I would also tell her that I am extremely dynamic in bed, and that references may be provided upon request.
I have worked a great deal on what I would tell her. I have recited it aloud to my bathroom mirror. I have listened to a tape recording of it in my Nissan while driving on the 405. I am still perfecting the diction, but if she's truly the woman I think she is, I will have to use smelling salts when I'm finished.

"Using casually conversational language, Michael Weinreb has crafted thoroughly modern stories uncommonly rich in mordant humor." (Thomas Moran, author of The World I Made For Her and Anja the Liar)
