Review
"A picaresque novel in the manner of Mark Twain." (The Horn Book)
Synopsis
This Twain-like novel features 14-year-old Henry as the wry narrator who tells of his comic adventures in 1848 Missouri. When a lie to his older brother Charles about their cousin being seen living with an Indian tribes leads them on an eventful search, the journey paints a picture of frontier prejudices with seriocomic overtones. A National Book Award Finalist.
