Ahh, and Jack Reacher novel. The Killing Floor won't go down in literature as an elite piece, but guys, and I'm not meaning to be sexist, but guys, this is a GUYS book. Ex-Military Police now drifter, after being treated without respect by the US Army, home for his whole life, Jack decides to wonder America, discovering Old Blues Artists' lives and seeing what the country he fought to protect, was really all about. And Child's novels seem to point that it's about honor, integrity, and a guy living up to both of those qualities, while living his way. Of course, there's always a girl to be found, and odds only begin to go bad for Jack when the numbers against him need both hands to count, but don't assume because Jack is tough and knows how to fight, that he needs to count on his fingers. He's like a Sherlock Holmes in Levis, though Sherlock was never 6'5", tanned, and this street smart. He's like Kung Fu, James Bond, and some Italian Clint Eastwood rolled into one. Okay, that was a lot of name dropping, but it's what I come up with when trying to describe a Jack Reacher novel. And if you enjoy any of those forms of entertainment, you'll love these novels and become an instart Jack fan.
