About the Author
Charles Dickens is best known for novels such as Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and A Tale of Two Cities, and holiday classics like A Christmas Carol and The Life of Our Lord. As was the case with a number of Dickens's works, The Child's Story first appeared in Household Words, one of the two English periodicals edited by Dickens during the 1850s and 1860s, and then later in one of the collections of his shorter works.
