"Is it possible that Stewart was actually trounced by Goldberg and didn't have the guts to put up his failed interview?" No.

Ed, I find that highly unlikely -- the clips seen here seem (to me, at least) to show Stewart doing a nice job of trouncing Goldberg's "ideas." (The slow burn as he holds up the cover just after confirming that Goldberg doesn't want to trivialize the term "fascism" is damn fine timing.) But you could be right, of course. Judicious editing and all... How are we to know unless we see the whole thing? What I don't understand is *why* they didn't just air the entire 18 minutes. I mean, the writers are on strike -- what a perfect time-filler!!

Lord knows I'm not a Jonah Goldberg fan. But am I the only person here who finds the "edited" version here suspicious. Is it possible that Stewart was actually trounced by Goldberg and didn't have the guts to put up his failed interview?

Hence the common phrase: "This article by Jonah Goldberg is the stupidest thing ever written until he writes something else". What a yutz.
