Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out by Mo Yan is on my nightstand. Lynn, I'm only at #25, taking it easy, not reading my usual 100+ books for the year.

Oooh--I'm reading The Given Day, as well. I've loved all of Lehane's books (with the exception of Coronado) and this one is fantastic. It's been one of the very few times that I'm so involved in one book that I can't even think about reading another until this one is finished. I'm so excited for The Given Day to come out in the fall so I can start handselling it!!

Lynn If I can pry it from the fingertips of family members who have already claimed "Next!" I will do my best...

I'm in the middle of "Team of Rivals" (fascinating), just finished Patrica Cornwell's "The Front" (too short) and am about to start Dean Koontz newest "Odd Hours" (love this character)and holding my breath until John Connolly's "The Reapers" is out next week... Yo, Adrienne - I'm at book #56 for the year in case you and Beth are trying to keep tabs on me... Brockman "The Given Day" sounds interesting - love Lehane. Any chance of sharing your ARC with this side of the building when you're finished???

The Devils is one of my favorite Dostoyevsky books. I just finished Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz, which I think will be my favorite book of the year!

I'm reading Bolano's The Savage Detectives, Ross MacDonald's The Doomsters, and two books about Wong Kar-Wai. That covers the book on my nightstand, the books in the living room, and the book I take around with me. I just finished Volume 3 of The Complete Terry & the Pirates (upsatirs bathroom), and now I'm skimming through the latest National Geographic.
