Dead in the Family is much more character driven than the last book in Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. Finding a dead body on her land (no, not the one she knew was there) leads to the discovery that someone (the new Vampire King? the FBI? the unknown fae lurking in her woods?) is trying to frame Sookie for the crime. While Dead in the Family doesn't have quite as much action as previous books, Harris engages the reader by revealing more about some peripheral relationships in Sookie's life, tying up a few loose ends, and offering a few interesting subplots that will hopefully feature in future books.
