Nate Powell was born in 1978 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He began self-publishing comics and zines in 1992 at age 14, and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2000. His work includes Please Release, Sounds of Your Name, It Disappears, Tiny Giants, the Walkie Talkie series, and contributions to Meathaus, Paper Rodeo, and the Eisner-nominated Syncopated anthologies. His newest book, Swallow Me Whole (Top Shelf), is a shadowy coming-of-age graphic novel featuring two siblings bound by their hallucinations.
Since 1999, Nate has worked full-time for adults with developmental disabilities. He also operates the DIY punk record label Harlan Records, and performs in the bands Soophie Nun Squad, Boomfancy, Wait, and Divorce Chord. He does not eat meat, but does drive way too much.
