I worry about seeing magpie at the start of a journey because it is a bad omen---or at least that's what the Ancient Romans believed. As for myself, I'm prevaricating because I have no superstitutions that I'm aware of.

My lucky number is 13. I've always sought it out. For example, my high school football number was 58. 5+8=13. There's also this one little habit: For more than twenty years, whenever I've set an alarm clock, I've made sure that the 'wake' time adds to 13. 6:07, 6:16, 6:25, etc. Honestly. In boring high school classes, I would catalog all the qualifying times on my notebook pages. And on the odd occasion when I've needed to wake up at, say, 10:00 -- after college I tended bar, which led to some untraditional sleep patterns -- I'd have to set the clock to run really fast (always fast, never slow) because there isn't a time that adds up to 13 between 9:40 and 10:39. I could go on, but I'm saving the best details for a deserving psychiatrist.

I don't remember the last time I walked under a ladder, I always go way around them.

Knocking on wood. Do it compulsively.
