World Book Night

World Book Night


Originally launched in the U.K. in 2011, World Book Night is an annual event designed to promote a love of reading and books by giving away one million free books on a single night. World Book Night will be celebrated for the first time in the U.S. on April 23, 2012.

WBN needs 50,000 volunteers to hand out 20 books each — for a total of one million free paperbacks. To apply for a chance to be one of the book givers selected this year, visit WorldBookNight.org by February 1. Deadline extended! Applications must be received by February 6.

For the list of donated books, WBN organizers carefully selected 30 titles from a variety of genres, including crime and science fiction as well as prizewinning literary fiction and nonfiction. Browse the full list below.
