Something Maybe
by
Elizabeth Scott

"Something, Maybe" has to be one of the most amusing yet emotion-filled novels I have had the pleasure to read. Hannah is a strong character and voice, and she is easy to relate to. We have all had our moments of embarassing parents and unrequited love. And the way Elizabeth wrote this, it is just amazing. I highly recommend it.

Wake 03 Gone
by
Lisa McMann
brittani
, February 10, 2010
Not near as fast-paced and exciting as the first two books in the Wake Trilogy, Gone is still a good read. With a plot twist that is unlike the other two books, Lisa McMann wraps up the trilogy very well. I'm really sad to see this series end, but all good things must come to an end someday. Still another highly recommended read. I'm glad she ended the series how she did. It gives good closure to the characters.

Some Girls Are
by
Courtney Summers

With a plot along the line of that of Laurie Halse Andersen's "Speak", Courtney Summers takes it to a whole new level. With "Some Girls Are", she doesn't hold back. Not only did I find the book interesting, but I couldn't put it down! I even found it much better than "Speak". This is an amazing example of young adult fiction literature. I highly recommend it.

Espressologist
by
Kristina Springer

Being a barista for two years myself, I have gotten to where I have been able to guess what people will order for their coffee just by looking at the person. And with Kristina Springer's debut YA novel, The Espressologist, she takes this to a totally different level: matchmaking! I am a total lover of young adult books, but many haven't been able to win me over fast like The Espressologist was able to do. Brimming with humor and very likeable characters, this was a very enjoyable read. I was able to really connect with Jane, the barista who is able to matchmake people through their coffee preferences, and even the other characters throughout the novel. I can only see more good things from Kristina Springer because her debut was dynamite. A must read for coffee lovers and those who don't love coffee alike. I'd highly recommend it.

Tricks 01
by
Ellen Hopkins
brittani
, September 13, 2009
Brutually honestly and with gripping detail, Ellen Hopkins didn't hold back with Tricks. Since her groundbreaking Crank and shocking Identical, Tricks has got to be the most surprising of all her novels. She weaves together in great detail the stories of 5 teenagers with different backgrounds and personalities but the same falling into the grips of the underground sex trade of America. Some might think that this book is much too mature for teenagers, but Ellen took great care in writing a novel that is not only honest, but is quite frank of the dangers of this all too real danger that has taken the lifes of millions of teens. A highly recommended read. Yet again Ellen Hopkins has written a novel that teens and adults alike can relate to.

We finally get to find out whatever happened to Arianna Osgood. After the murder of fellow classmate Thomas Pearson, whom she murdered, Arianna is caught and sent to prison. She's spent two years in a women's facility and now she is making plans. In the first book of Kate Brian's new series "Privilege", we get a deep glimpse into the dark psyche of one of Private's most intriquing characters. It was an awesome book. I highly recommend it!

Wintergirls
by
Laurie Anderson

Written in the same poetic and emotional style of "Speak", "Wintergirls" is an intense journey into the mind of Lia, a girl who struggles with anorexia. Laurie Halse Anderson did an amazing job with this novel. Not only is this novel hauntingly beautiful, it truly describes the inner battles that someone with an eating disorder and mental illness goes through. I highly, highly recommend this book. It is sure not to disappoint.

Wake 02 Fade
by
Lisa McMann

, February 13, 2009
Written in the same style as McMann's debut and first novel in the trilogy "Wake"; "Fade" is a suspense-filled and emotional read. You will find out some devastating secrets about the life of a dreamcatcher and you'll be taken on a wild ride through Janie's most dangerous assignment thus far. Fans of "Wake" will not be disappointed in "Fade". It will leave you longing and wanting more. One of my favorites of 2009.

With a captivating and poetic voice, this novel is amazing. The usage of combining religious beliefs and fact about botany, it actually works. I found Aslaug's story to be both interesting and inspirational. I couldn't put this book down!

I was able to find an ARC of this book, I must say it is simply breathtaking. Once I read the first paragraph, I was hooked. This book is so full of emotion and passion, that it truly tucks on your heart. I couldn't help but became totally emotional while reading this. It reminded me alot of Libba Bray's "Gemma Doyle Trilogy". I highly, highly recommend this book. It is amazing, you won't be disappointed.

I found the story to be quite exciting and engaging. But I was very disappointed with the ending. The novel was so well written, yet the ending just didn't live up to the rest of the novel.

Madness A Bipolar Life

Marya Hornbacher

, March 26, 2008
A painfully honest book, "Madness" takes over where "Wasted" left off. With great honesty and a powerful use of language, Marya explains her lifelong struggle with her mental illness and how she is now able to cope and live with it. I highly recommend this book, as well as "Wasted". You won't be disappointed.

I was looking forward to the release of this book for months. It was a good conclusion to this amazing series. But I couldn't help but be somewhat disappointed with the outcome. It makes me wish there was going to be a forth book. I highly recommend this series. Simply a pleasure to read. An all time favorite of mine and always will be. I am going to miss these characters deeply. I really connected with them, which is rare for me with a book.

Color Me Scarred Blade Silver

Self-Injury is a hard topic to write on. And Melody Carlson has wrote about it in this book with shear perfection. This book truly goes into the mind of a cutter. And it truly shows the emotions and feeling behind this illness. I can relate to it very well, since I, myself have struggled with it. By far my favorite book ever written on this topic. A must have for anyone who struggles with or knows someone who struggles with self-injury.
