New Literature in Translation: December 2022 and January 2023
(0 comment)
It may be a new year, this may be a list of new books, but our love for literature in translation hasn’t changed at all, and we are so pleased to be enthusiastically recommending these recent releases. On this list, you’ll find a Spanish novel where controversy swirls around a Coca-Cola billboard...

Love Rosie
by
Cecelia Ahern

, July 20, 2009
To put it plainly, I loved this book! It was charming and endearing, yet at the same time rough enough around the edges to make it realistic. Rosie Dunne is a character you can't help not to like and each hardship and success she goes through, you feel it too. The rest of the characters were also well written and voiced and at the end of the novel, otherwise known as the end of Rosie's fifty year journey, I couldn't do anything but read it all over again.

Georgia Nicolson 09 Stop In The Name Of Pants
by
Louise Rennison

Stop in the Name of Pants is yet another fab book in the Georgia Nicolson series. I laughed A LOT because this one was just as hilarious as the last, with the spurts of giggles that had people asking me if I was feeling okay. The only bad part of this installment was that it ended with a cliff hanger to hang all cliff hangers! So I definitely can not wait for the next!

Breaking Dawn: Twilight 4
by
Stephenie Meyer
jasminnie
, August 03, 2008
Oh my gosh!!! I was extremely excited when this book came out! I finished it in 4 hours, and personally I think it was the best out of the entire Twilight saga. The story isn't merely about Bella and Edward's love for each other; it grows bigger, which is nice. I thought Jacob's part was spectacular and, surprise, Stephenie Meyer creates a brilliant finale to a much loved series.

Private 01

Prvate was quite unlike any book I have ever read. With all the drama and crime, it proves to be a suspenseful story about a girl trying to fit in at a super posh boarding school. A definite read and all I can say is thank goodness it's a series because i can't put them down!

Private 06 Legacy

This book is by far the best in the entire Private series. The characters are put in much more drama and you once you start the book, you have to finish it, no question. Whether or not you were not fans of the other books, I encourage you to read this one, because Kate Brian's writing has exceeded new heights and you don't want to be left out.

Another rib- cracking book from Louise Rennison. This series is really a great thing to read when you've had a bad day. In the first 10 minutes you're laughing out loud, guffawing or screaming because it's just so funny!

Shadow Killer

In general I thought this book was pretty good. Some of the events are totally impossible, but it always keeps you on your toes and it's completely unpredictable. A good book for non sci fi lovers too, but it does get a little raunchy at some parts.

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicolson
by
Louise Rennison

this book is "drop -on- the- floor- rolling- around- and can't- stop- laughing-till- i- faint" funny. It's amazing, and the others in the series are just as fun as well. And it really is for all ages because my language arts teacher actually recommended it after laughing through the whole class and she's 50! Definitely lifts you when you're feeling down

Earth The Sequel The Race to Reinvent Energy & Stop Global Warming

I was definitely surprised when I read this book. I thought it would kind of have the same aproach that Al Gore took in the well known An Inconvenient Truth, but it has a differnet angle and goes more in depth of what people are actually doing( such as companiesand investors) I really enjoyed reading this book and found it catchy for even the more stubborn readers, so go ahead and pick it up!
