Something Borrowed makes you think twice about your own motives in life. Rachel constantly says that what she's doing just "isnt her" and makes you, as the reader, think 'then stop doing it.' All the while you want her to because she's setting herself free (in a sense). It's a very easy read, great for the summer. The setting in New York City gives you the idea of a Sex and the City episode. There is also a link to London within the book and makes the story great for women who like to be entertained.

The first few chapters just draw you in. You can't help but laugh at what she is saying, although very saddening at times, Elizabeth Gilbert makes you question what it is you want out of life. Her journey through Italy, Indonesia and India and her accounts of her travels, bring you there and you feel a connection with her as a person. A quirky author, I think, but an incredibly engaging one at that. It's a must read for anybody who wants to feel challenged by their own values.
