Neal Stephenson has created the ultimate post modern cyber thriller. Characters are flawlessly weird and the plot rips along with surprises page after page. I've never been disappointed wtih a Stephenson novel yet. But Anathem and Reamde are the best so far...

Dahlquist's Glass Books of the Dream Eaters hit me with a sense of wonder that I hadn't found in popular fiction for many years. This artfully written book races along like a Republic Serial on steampunk steroids! Dahlquist is a terrific writer...creating vivid, believable characters, solid plotting, and colorful scenery. This is a novel you just can't put down. It made me think of the grand adventure novels I read as a kid...using a flashlight in bed after my parents told me "lights out". It's like Jules Verne with sex...having lots to say about the nature of Virtual Reality. Glass Books of the Dream Eaters is simply the best novel I've read in the last decade!

With Vampyres of Hollywood, Adrienne Barbeau and Michael Scott have created a classic tarnished-tinsel-town horror novel. The characters are "dead" on and though this IS a horror novel with the usual gore...it's funny as hell! I've worked in horror makeup FX for years and Ms. Barbeau nails the business perfectly! If you know Hollywood or just love horror movies...buy this book now. You'll laugh out loud at some of the comments our lead character Ovsanna Moore, a famous horror film diva, makes about the industry. The scenes that reveal the "actual" Vampyres of Hollywood are masterful creations. If I had the bucks, I'd buy the rights and make this book into a film immediately!

This was my first introduction to English author Eric Brown and I'm hooked forever. Helix is a highly entertaining, space opera about colony ships with colonists in hypersleep sent from a dying earth to colonize a newly discovered habitable star system. Things go terribly wrong and the ship crashes. To survive, the major characters must traverse a constructed alien environment consisting of multiple worlds on a helix surrounding a star. The novel also utilizes alternating chapters to tell the story of some of the world's aliens who eventually cross paths with the surviving earth colonists. This novel is fast-paced, the characters believable, and the locale exotic. I will read many more novels of Eric Brown as they become available in the states.
