Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)

Loop

My 89 year old mother year old mother recently recommended The Loop to me as a good read and we are now both cheerleaders for it. The Publisher's commentary leaves out all the best parts. The deftly humorous moments; the sacred moments in the midst of a freeway; the ways our lives can be transformed if only we will grab an opportunity and act with passion. It has "book goup" stuff in the back and would make a wonderful shared read.

Lost Garden

Helen took me gently, yet vividly through Gwen's losses during London's Blitz and World War II, her relationship with her mother and losses of self-esteem, with an underlying hope that affirmed the many loves in Gwen's life. An especially engaging read for one who treasures the gifts of gardens, or for one who strugges with day to day living in the midst of loss.
