Easy On The Eyes

Despite the whole glamerous hollywood described in the book, I fell in love with the characters in this book. Danielle Steele fans will LOVE this book!! Tiana is a warm, loving individual that wants the whole package, a family, kids and someone to love that will love her back. She loss alot when she was young and then loss her husband not even a year after she was married. She has her two best friends Marta and Shey and some other good friends as well. She thrives to do good for others and I loved her mission to Zambia, very touching! The connection between her and Dr. Michael O'Sullivan is exceptional, you can picture the two of them together. Overall it was an excellent book, very heartfelt, loved the characters and I hope this one turns out to be another hit movie like Flirting with Forty (which was awesome too!). I highly recommend this book as well...haven't read one of Jane Porter's books that I didn't like!

Swimsuit

James Patterson

Patterson definitely went from a 'thriller' to a 'horror' book with this one. Maybe because I'm a parent and we know that a parent will always try their best to protect their child(ren), no matter how old they are. This book was much more graphic than his others. The psychopath takes on many disguises and is easily able to lure his prey, to which he enjoys filming his sadistic and torturous ways with his victims. Some parts I will say were very hard to read and I'm a huge fan of Patterson, so take this as a warning...it is not for the weak!

Here Today, Gone to Maui
by

This was a comical, adventurous book! Jane is very much the perfectionist type of person, but has a low self esteem. She was elated that the guy that she had been dating invited her to go to Maui with him on vacation. He seems to be a great guy, owns his own business making wetsuits for divers. Everything was first class all the way to Maui, until they got there. From there it was downhill with alot of mishaps and finding out that she really didn't know her boyfriend all too well. Without giving too much away, the boyfriend disappears after he goes out diving, by himself...then the police get involved, the news media, another woman and then will the real 'Jimmy' please stand up! it was all quite comical and fun to read. A great beach book!

Run for Your Life

James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge

Another thriller from James Patterson...another Michael Bennett story line...fast paced from the first page. Michael Bennett doesn't seem to catch a break at home or at work. His 10 kids all came down with the flu, but fortunately he had the help of his nanny and father. The killer definitely knew how to leave his mark and never mess with one of Michael Bennett's kids! action packed, another great book!

Andrew Gross is right up there with James Patterson! this is a fast paced book, well developed characters. The main character was the daughter whom one day received a frantic call from her mother stating that her father had just been arrested. The daughter lives with her husband, but goes to her parents to find out what is going on...to find out that her family has to enter the witness protection program. This book kept you on your toes trying to figure out who murdered who and always had you guessing...and an interesting ending! Great book...

I'm an avid James Patterson fan, but this book was awesome...a definite page turner and fast paced. Karen thought she knew her husband Charles of 20+ years until his death. Then came the threats, and then came the uncovering of her husbands death. She becomes close with Detective Ty Hauck, who vows to find out what happened to her husband. A little mystery, a little romance, leads to a great book!

Rogue

This was a great book, it truly depicts what it is like to be a single parent and having to care for your children and the chaos of everyday life, while having a career. Although, Maxine's career of psychiatry with adolescents was sometimes very sad to read about. Blake, her exhusband is wild and carefree. Maxine finds herself trying to get back into the dating scene, which also proves to be a challenge with having kids in tow. The characters are well developed and you can almost picture the characters, especially the kids with some of the comments made in the book...as the saying goes 'right out of the mouth of a babe'.

This is a great summer beach read and even though the main characters are teenagers, and I'm in my 40s, I still loved the book! I also loved it because I've been to Aruba and some of the landmarks that they reference in the book, I remember seeing them firsthand. Megan's parents are divorced and the mother is getting remarried and going on her honeymoon, so she is being sent to visit her father, which she hadn't seen in the past 3 years. Megan's leg is in a cast and she has alot of clumsy mishaps along the way, which are quite comical. Megan met new friends and even had a summer romance there and finally learned what her father did for a living! I don't want to give that away...just read it for yourself! it had a great ending as well...a fast, easy read...

Against Medical Advice A True Story
by

This is a touching story about a young man with Tourette's Syndrome. Cory describes his daily life which seems to be a constant struggle every day. It is amazing at the strength and courage that his family has had during their search to get Cory help. It made me very thankful that I have healthy children because there are many families that have some form of health issues to deal with every day.

Just Breathe

This was an excellent book. Even though a book of fiction, it was a very believable situation. Sarah grew up on an Oyster Farm and when she graduated from school, she just wanted to get away. She went to Chicago and met her husband, Jack Daly. Everything revolved around Jack. Sarah nursed him back to health when he was sick with cancer, which is why she was going thru a fertility clinic to get pregnant and start a family. Things changed once Jack was healthy again and he decided to have an affair. Sarah's reaction was to head back home to be near her family. Her mother had passed away, but she still had her father, brother, grandmother and great aunt. She moved into her great aunts cottage. Sarah hired a divorce lawyer, Birdie, a girl that she went to school with. Sarah sees this beautiful young girl who reminds her of a Disney character, but the girls name was Aurora. Come to find out, she was the stepdaughter to Will, who was the local Chief Firefighter. Sarah was in the same grade with Will and is Birdie's brother. Sarah gets reacquainted with Will and learns about Aurora's past and the mother that left her and Will. Sarah then learns that she is pregnant with Jack's babies (twins). It was a happily ever after ending...I would highly recommend it!

This was an entertaining chick lit book. It was interesting to read how Lindsey Miller and Jen Savage would study the trends to report for their newsletter. It was also interesting to read about the two men that Lindsey fell for, one in New York and one in LA...I had to keep reading because I really wanted to know which one she would end up with! a good read...

Seven Sunny Days

I love to hear the English (European) people talk, so it was interesting to read a book with some of the European lingo (i.e. pain in the arse)! This book was about 3 girls that go to a resort in Turkey for a 'hen week'. One girl (Rachel) is getting married, one girl (Carrie Ann) recently divorced and the other girl (Yaslyn) was in (or out) of a relationship. Rachel's fiance (Patrick) went on a trip to Bodrum with the guys. His mother kept calling Rachel and changing their wedding plans (caterers, transportation, etc). During the girls' holiday, they were having fun together at times and were also at odd's with each other at times. The book focused on the 3 girls, but then the author also added in a couple that went on holiday to get the spark back into their marriage. The reps at the resort were amusing as well. Overall, this was a fun book to read...alot of laugh out loud comments!
