Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Not only did this book make me think, but it also made me laugh. I recommend this book to anyone who has experienced loss of any type! Whether that loss is a memory,an object you just can't find, a word or a family member, this book will generate smiles as well as tears! It will be my go to gift book for friends and family this year.

Glass Rainbow
by
James Lee Burke

The mix of visual language, and truthful characters draws me to James Lee Burke's books everytime. The Glass Rainbow is a book to savor. I love the taste and smell of the Louisiana geography. I enjoy feeling the fundamental hope that Dave Robicheaux has in his fellow man, tainted as we are with our humanity. I know that Dave will help me find a life's path as he works solving puzzing crimes. Dave Robicheaux, with his alter ego, Clete Purcell, show us how to face the inevitabile questions we all live with: When will we die? How will we live before we die? The more I read and ponder on Dave Robicheaux and his extended family, the more I think about who I am, what I am doing with every minute of my life, and with whom and where I chose to live.
