Gonzalez & Daughter Trucking Co A Road Novel with Literary License
by
Maria Amparo Escandon
libraryelf
, March 18, 2009
Ms. Escandon takes us on a madcap ride, driven by a Latina Scheherazade in a Mexicali womens's prison. Eccentric prisoners, gossiping truckers and a father and daughter on the lam are just some of the elements Escandon uses to create this jewel. A FUN READ!!

The Host
by
Stephenie Meyer
libraryelf
, December 31, 2008
BRAVO!!!!, Ms. Meyers. I have been a scifi/fantasy reader for over 40 years and this book is now my all time favorite. Meyer's ability to portray the intricacies of relationships is what makes this book so outstanding. One cannot help falling in love with all of the characters, flaws and all. The Twilght series is good. The Host is abolutely fantastic.

Quantum Rose was my first Skolian Empire novel. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. A have read all of the series and Quantum Rose remains my favorite. If you are curious about Asaro's books this is a great place to start.

Small Favor: Dresden Files 10
by
Jim Butcher
libraryelf
, May 08, 2008
Just when you think that nothing more can happen to Harry Dresden, Jim Butcher comes up another fantastic adventure for him. I like the fact that Harry still comes across as a regular person who just happens to be a wizard. No matter how powerful and terrifying the villians are, Dresden can't let the bad guys win. This series is absolutely the best of the contemporary urban fantasy genre.

Reserved For The Cat Elemental Masters Book 5
by
Mercedes Lackey
libraryelf
, April 26, 2008
Ms. Lackey's Elemental Masters series is a total delight. I read each one as soon as I can get it. The books are loosely based on classic fairy tales and I love picking out all of the similarities. Ninette, a young french dancer, is on the brink of starvation after she is fired, due to the jealousy of the star performer, from the ballet company due to the. She encounters a talking cat and thus begins her journey, literally, to fame and fortune. Anyone who is into to fantasy really should add this series to their personal collection.

The Smoke Thief
by
Shana Ab
libraryelf
, April 26, 2008
After reading Dream Thief and Queen of the Dragons, I had to find book #1. Smoke Thief was even better than the other two. If you have not had the opportunity to read it, you must pick up a copy of Dream Thief. Rue is one of the most entertaining heroines I have encountered in a long time. I loved the way she stood up to Kit the Drakon council. And Kit, who would have thought that dragons could be sexy! Wow!

Changeling Otherworld 02
by
Yasmine Galenorn
libraryelf
, April 20, 2008
This series into the fae world of shapeshifters is a little different from the usual. Instead the large predatory animal, Delilah is a playful domestic cat. The scene with the Winter Holiday tree is a hoot!! If you have ever had a cat, you will throughly enjoy this installment. The required hunky men and suspense are there as well. I am definitely going to search out the books about the other two sisters!

Blueberries For Sal
by
Robert McCloskey

, April 06, 2008
I have loved this book since my mother read it to me. Now that I am a Children's librarian, I have the pleasure of introducing this timeless classic to more children. You can't go wrong with this story of two youngsters out for all the blueberries they can get. Highly recommended.

Mary Had A Little Jam & Other Silly Rhymes
by
Bruce Lansky, Carpen

, April 06, 2008
This book will tickle your funny bone for sure. I like to read this just as much as my grandkids like to hear it. All new adventures for the traditional Mother Goose characters. Best of all, rhymes are a first step toward language acquisition and literacy.

Teach Yourself Visually Knitting
by
Sharon Turner
libraryelf
, April 06, 2008
I consider this the ultimate book for those of us who love to knit. The step-by-step instructions and photos are better than a DVD because you don't have to keep rewinding when you're learning a new stitch or technique. Included are several basic (10) and intermediate (7) projects let you try out your new skills. I keep this in my knitting tote all the time.

Queen Of Dragons Drakon 03
by
Shana Abe
libraryelf
, April 06, 2008
I read the third book of this series with great pleasure. The concept of an entire sleepy little english shire inhabited exclusively by the "Drakon" is enchanting. It reminded me of Brigdoon. Dragons, romance and danger all swirled together in an entertaining read.

Legacy Sharing Knife 02
by
Lois Mcmaste Bujold
libraryelf
, April 06, 2008
Legacy, volumn two, of the "Sharing Knife", is just as engaging as Beguilement. As usual, Bujold has created complex and believable characters that you can really care about. This saga would be a wonderful addition to a fantasy lover's collection. Romance readers will love it too!

Karavans 1
by
Jennifer Roberson
libraryelf
, March 27, 2008
This was the first Roberson novel I had ever read. I'm sorry that I waited so long to pick up one of her books. The guide, Rhuan, is very intriging and I can't wait to see how his identity and abilities are revealed to Adrun and her family. The rest of the characters are also well developed and the plot has just enough hints to keep you turning pages to find out what will happen next. I highly recommend this series to fantasy lovers.

Captain's Fury: Codex Alera 4
by
Jim Butcher
libraryelf
, March 26, 2008
Tavi, finally comes into his own. I like the way he uses his brain as well as his developing fury-craft. His strategies are always daring and unique, but they do the trick. The Canim are a terrifying foe, but once Tavi uncovers the reason for their presence in Alera, that changes everything. A page turner for sure.

White Night: Dresden Files 9
by
Jim Butcher
libraryelf
, March 26, 2008
I love Harry Dresden! He is the most entertaining character in Contemporary Urban Fantasy. Witches, psychic vampires, gangsters, cops, old girlfriends - Jim Butcher delivers once again with Harry's latest (mis)adventure in the world of the supernatural. You're really missing out if you don't read this.
