Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Imagine living in Bristol, TN and you are unable to acknowledge the fact that Bristol, VA exists. You know that people are walking in the street by you, but if you "see" them, you get taken away never to be heard from again. Oh, don't forget your passport if you want to visit the other Bristol. Throw in a murder mystery and you have this book. This book is a page-turner extraordinaire.

Easy Company Soldier The Legendary Battles of a Sergeant from World War IIs Band of Brothers

A very good read. As a career military man, I am forever in awe of the men of the "Greatest Generation", that fought to preserve World Freedom. SGT Malarkey's eye witness account of the deeds of Company E, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne is compelling. I have read Ambrose's "Band of Brothers" and "Citizen Soldiers" as well, but found this book so much better. I will be getting the other men's (E Co. "alumni) books and see how they compare to this. I very much recommend this to all.
