Calypso
by
David Sedaris

David Sedaris is guaranteed to entertain with unique, amusing (and revealing) stories about himself and his family. I can always count on several laugh-out-loud anecdotes in every David Sedaris book. Calypso was no exception... except, this time, David's revelations also include some very personal and heartbreaking incidents. If you've come to think of David as a friend after reading his books over the years, do not miss this one.

Theft By Finding: Diaries 1977 - 2002
by

David Sedaris is ceaselessly entertaining. Even his diary scribblings are amusing... and, as often as not, laugh-out-loud funny. David has a unique knack for finding the humor in the smallest, seemingly insignificant details of daily life.

Cigarette Century The Rise Fall & Deadly Persistance of the Product That Defined America
by
Allan Brandt

, June 12, 2007
As a former smoker, I occasionally find myself recollecting the pleasures of lighting up a cigarette with that first cup of morning coffee. This well-told story of the history of mass-produced cigarettes serves as a helpful reminder that quitting smoking is a victory not only over the tobacco industry but also the full-scale PR campaign and propaganda techniques designed to promote and defend them.

My War Killing Time In Iraq
by
Colby Buzzell
Mindy
, May 14, 2007
Colby Buzzell, an American soldier deployed in Iraq, started an online journal while serving as a machine-gunner. The blog ran for just eight weeks before being shut down by the U.S. military. Thankfully, his blog entries and emails were picked up by a publisher. "My War: Killing Time In Iraq" is Buzzell's compelling narrative of his day-to-day life in Mosul. Buzzell's candid descriptions of his experiences on the front lines of the war in Iraq are blunt, funny, honest, surreal, but mostly extraordinary. "My War" is this year's Overall Winner and Non-Fiction Winner of the Lulu Blooker Prize, awarded for excellent in "blooks" (books based on blogs or web sites).
