I LOVE this book. It will please may, including folks like me who love for-lack-of-a-better-term anthropological scifi and fantasy. If you like this, check out Macaulay's Black and White which is mind-tweaking in a different way. Well, you really can't go wrong with Macaulay.

A classic. Not only are the illustrations droll, but the song and lyrics will stick in you and your child's head forever. I should know--I still have them stuck in mine 35 years later.

I loved this book when I was a child. The illustrations are classic, and the story illustrate the metaphorical gray of hunter and prey--and the hunted hunter.

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
by
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

I laughed out loud through the first third of the book. After that either I or the book settled down to a mellower humor. I bought the book because--Gaiman _and_ Pratchett?! I figured it had to be good--and it was. In addition to brilliant writing, another fully-"drawn" world and characters, and hilarity, the book also has, ultimately, a good-hearted center that holds it all together.
