all james lee burke stores are excellent whether it be billy bob holland or dave robicheau - this is an excellent author who knoes how to write and holds the readers attention - for wanting to read more of his books. i am currently reading one of the billy bob holland series and these books are hard to put down. you feel like you really know the character. i admire the author who lives in missoula, montana, now and am mad that my daughter - adult - didntt meet him or read his books before she moved to belgrade out of bozeman. this man can WRITE.

Home Before Dark

i am almost finished reading this book - within 20 pages and this book holds the readers attention through out the entire book. it is about a lady that gave birth to a baby but had the child raised by her sister when she left town to travel the worlds as a camera person for 15 years. when she returns to texas things move along and get exciting in dealing with the 15 year old daughter who does not know about her parentage and our main girl also learns she has a visual problem. she has now met a man who is interested in her but trying to distance herself, so it is interesting to see the way miss wiggs has handled the story line which is excellent and totally holds the readers attention. i would recommend this book to both men and women.

Nine Lives Mystery Magic Death & Life in New Orleans
by

i have read about the first 42 pages and feel drawn in from the start even though the author said it would take 50 pages to understand what was going on. some of time frame is around hurricane betsy and is in the 9th and 7th wards. the author has done a gread job of describing the people, events and houses and area. the reason i know some of this is because my husband is from new orleans and lived in the 9th ward and said that the details are all correct - so kudos to the author. this is a definite recommend read - the only problem i have is that it would be better on an eboook where i can adjust the print. the print in this book is hard for me as an older lady to read and so i use a magnifying glass to read it but it is great.

Tin Roof Blowdown
by
James Lee Burke

tin roof blowdown is the first james lee burke novel i have read of this author which lead me to more and more of his books with Dave Robicheaux and this book describes the hurricane katrina wich devestated new orelans and how the people moved to the super dome for protection and one person was killed there and finding out how it happened. This story gave a geographical description of new orleans (my hubby has lived there) and about the hurricane and is intimately written regarding his characters and the descriptios of the hurricane and the people. Excellent book all the way around as are all Mr. Burke's other books - every one is just excellent.

i haven't yet read this book, but all mr. Burke's books are the very best. I have read them from the beginning and at times, due to our fixed income with retirement and sickneses, we are prevented from getting his books - but he absolutely has done the research and knows what he writes about. My hubby used to live in New Orleans, and all the books with David robichoux in the new orleans area are spot on as far as the geography. This author is absolutely tops with both hubby and I.
