Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
    lascsw3, January 06, 2010
I eagerly awaited Sue Monk Kidd's first novel after embracing feminism and was not disappointed. She captures beautifully the issues of women and community, of a young girl's search for family as well as civil rights.

Struggle to Be the Sun Again: Introducing Asian Women's Theology by Chung Hyun Kyung and Hyun K. Chung
    lascsw3, July 31, 2008
I first read this book in the summer of 1998. My daughter handed it to me on the way to a peacemaking retreat in Montrat, N.C. where the author was a speaker. Said if I only read two chapters, make it the chapters on Jesus and Mary. I left for that retrea, exhausted and spiritually depleted from my work as a therapist/social worker. I started the book on the plane, read whenever I could through out the week and finished it as the plane landed in my hometown. I felt transformed and energized and in love with feminist theology .
