very short stories--420 characters--like looking in a window as the car passes--and yet Beach pulls off a narrative closure great cryptic illustrations from a major illustrator what can I say--coffee break lit

Very strange, but compellingly readable. The author, Lou Beach is best known for his illustrations and record cover art, and indeed the illustrations herein are fun. The stories are 420 characters each(-they began as Facebook posts). What haiku is to epic poetry these are to novels or short stories. Thus the book may be read in an hour,or over months. I strongly urge the latter.

Shallows What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains
by
Nicholas Carr
Richard Katz
, January 01, 2011
Carr persuasively argues that internet use affects our ability to engage deeply with text. This book builds upon his Atlantic essay "Google is Making us Stupid" demonstrating in a variety of paradigms that internet searching is producing a habit of fragmented attention.

Clear prose. Strong plotting. A courageous story.
