All Things Cease to Appear

Caught author's tv interview and was captivated with the peek she allowed into her story. I immediately purchased book and started it as soon as it arrived. Usually a 10 - 12 page-at-a-time reader, I found myself turning pages into the wee hours. I loved this book. Catch the author's interview first (YouTube) if you can. A tantalizing hook to get you started. Enjoy.

Vicious:season 2
by
TinaC

In need of a good laugh!? Insanely funny, this series is just what the doc ordered. Veteran actors, Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi play Freddie and Stewart, snipping flat mates who became a couple before gay coupling was cool. Though caring deeply for each other, they've zany ways of showing it. Frances de la Tour and Iwan Rheon add their talent and quirks as friend and neighbor to Freddie and Stewart's intimate circle of pals. Not to worry...it's not in your face and no one's pushing anything on anyone. It's just fun and silliness; comedy is the main character. The balance of acting, casting, writing, humor in this series is great. Note: not really for the kiddies as there is some profanity involved. Start with Season 1 and move to 2. I'd be surprised if you didn't love it.

Twelve Clues of Christmas
by
Rhys Bowen

, January 23, 2013
Tired of Christmas mysteries that are short on snow, holiday flavor and all things well, Christmas? So am I and I only wish I would've discovered 12 Clues earlier in the season. Well, late is better than not so with a chill in the air, my yule log video playing on screen, a hot cocoa nearby, I enjoy tucking into Ms. Bowen's latest Royal Spyness mystery. Page after page, this cozy doesn't quit. Engaging characters, lovable protag, Noel Coward, mysteries, clues and lots of old fashioned British Christmas traditions are found throughout this whosdoingit? Put this one on your 2013 winter holiday must read list. And if you can't wait 'til then and whilst there's a chill in the air, play a yule log video on your screen, have a hot cocoa nearby, and enjoy tucking into this Royal Spyness mystery.

A Trick of the Light

Louise Penny

A Trick of the Light is the latest Louise Penny hit. Time and money is never wasted when tucking into Penny's Three Pines mysteries. Great characters, wonderful backdrop, riveting story, plotting and a reveal that delivers. This is my pick for the 2012 Puddly Award.

English Tea Murder
by
Leslie Meier

Less mystery, more history...not a horrible thing if one loves visiting England via armchair. Our gal Ms. Meier hooks us nicely but is sparse with clues, blue and red herrings mid-story. She does however, keep us entertained with visits to The Tower, Whispering Gallery, Harrods and much more. The mystery picks up again and takes us to the end and a somewhat satisfying climax. Again, not a horrible book just doesn't have the mystery chasing, crime solving Lucy Stone we all came to know and love. Please Ms. Meier do bring back your "old" style of story telling. We like that best.

Sherlockian
by
Graham Moore

Prose that flows. A page turning, must read as Mr. Moore takes us seemlessly through mysterious times circa Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to a mystery most contemporay. Not a Sherlock Holmes' fan? You will be now. Jump in. "The game's afoot!"
