A wonderful, fun book that plays out in your mind like a movie because of the characters. You know them and you love them. I loved this book and I'm looking forward to more from this author. If you liked The Help, Steel Magnolias or Fried Green Tomatoes, read this.

I really had trouble putting this one down! It does just pull you right in with twists that are maddening because then you have to read the next chapter...

Last Werewolf
by
Glen Duncan

I thought that I'd had enough of this genre of werewolves and vampires. This book has proven me wrong. It is witty, sexy, wincingly gory in beautifully written detail, and narrated by the most well read and articulate werewolf in history.

Do you love Tom Robbins? Did you crave beets after reading Jitterbug Perfume? Villa Incognito will make you want to research and surround yourself with all things chrysanthemum. If you are unfamiliar with Tom Robbins, then read this book and open yourself to the layers and magic that you inhabit when you read his work!

This book, more than any other I have read in a long time, had prose that moved me to tears and filled my heart with joy.

Skinny Legs & All
by
Tom Robbins

My favorite book from one of my favorite authors, Skinny Legs and All contains wisdom, humor, spirituality, and a talking spoon. It's really fairly indescribable other than it's wonderful and you will be a better person after reading it.

Sunnyside
by
Glen David Gold

Sunnyside takes some perseverance because it IS very confusing at first. The payoff is worth it though, as this is a novel filled with wonderful moments that transport you back to a different time with characters that you come to understand and care about as you find the rhythm of the book.

An amazing book woven together by a masterful storyteller. The threads of different generations come together in a way that you marvel at when the book is finished and you wish it weren't. Highly recommend.

Ratio The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking
by
Michael Ruhlman
Elizabeth R
, May 21, 2009
This is not a "cookbook". Instead it is a book about "cooking" that I found engaging and tremendously informative. Learning the basic and fundamental ways that ingredients in a dish work together is how you can really learn to cook without recipes!

Housekeeping
by
Marilynne Robinson
Elizabeth R
, May 21, 2009
After reading Gilead by Mariynne Robinson, I loved it so much I went in search of others novels that she had written. Housekeeping is her first novel and it did not disappoint. She tells her story of orphaned sisters that are placed in the care of their eccentric aunt and the ways they all must adapt.

A Wonderful story that pulls you in immediately and doesn't let go. A book that I longed to get back to reading, was sad to finish and made me look for more works from the author.
