I truly enjoyed this creative and ingenious plot that took main character Cormac through centuries of life on the island of Manhattan. It gave me a great insight into New York changing from a fledgling community to heartbeat of the United States.

A wonderful debut novel for Jamie Ford! This will have you itching for him to keep on writing! The characters are wonderfully constructed and help the reader feel the pain inflicted on Japanese Americans during WWII. It brings to light a painful period in the United States' past. This book was an absolute joy to read and will stay with me for a long time!

What a wonderful treasure! From page 1, I was totally engrossed in this story that revolves around circus life. The characters are simply fabulous and the author's way of telling you the story is delightful. I keep very few books after I read them, but I will hold onto this book forever. It is one of those special few!
