Dead Until Dark Southern Vampire 01 Tie In Cover
by
Charlaine Harris
livresque
, February 26, 2009
For the longest time I was reluctant to read this series. Why? A stupid reason, really: the heroine's name. I thought Sookie Stackhouse was a really silly name. Well, I'm glad I overcame my moniker snobbery, because this is an incredible series. I love Sookie and her world, the fictional yet fully-realized Bon Temps; I love how Harris has tied in the paranormal with the plain world we know.

I enjoyed this spin-off of Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, first introduced in a short story anthology. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

I truly love this book - the rich, dark atmosphere; the full and troubled characters. It's the ultimate vampire story, and I must read it every year around Halloween.

Love this series! I couldn't put this one down. A strong heroine in the vein of Sookie Stackhouse and early Anita Blake.

Lover Eternal BDB 02
by

I agree with Book Lover about the "street talk" - it does get a little irritating. And the characters' names sometimes seem a bit silly. That said, I enjoyed the book and had a hard time putting it down.

Follow-up to Darkfever. This series keeps getting better and better. I love the tension and chemistry between the main characters, and the dark, paranormal world that exists right under our noses...

Rest Falls Away Gardella 01
by
Colleen Gleason

, February 21, 2009
I've heard Gleason's series called a cross between Jane Austen and Buffy the Vampire Slayer; it's a very apt description. I loved the historical setting, the paranormal aspect, and the deep, well-rounded characters.

Breaking Dawn: Twilight 4
by
Stephenie Meyer

I loved the start of this series; Twilight was fantastic. But I didn't much care for Breaking Dawn. Maybe it just seemed anticlimactic, but I didn't like where the characters went.
