Graphic Novels have been fighting their way to the top of collaborative art forms for a long time, and Y: The Last Man is one of those at the forefront of this battle. Y is both an intellectually stimulating, visually entrancing, and emotionally moving story. I loved the story telling and the vibrancy and complexity of the character development. This is a VERY smart writer who collaborates very well with some exceptional visual artists. This is a story that I will certainly be going back to again and again.

Zazen

In chaos, there is beauty and joy to be found. Zazen is a gem of a story that imagines a dystopian, Portlandesque future full of sadness, confusion, and militant veganism. The sheer beauty of Veselka's tale is in the honest complexity of her characters and the glowing brilliance of her prose. Rarely do I find a book where the cadence of the author's voice is so enchanting that I reread entire pages to basque in their ambiance. I adore this book, and so can you.

When Time Travel has become an academic endeavor, Blackout takes us to World War II during the bombing of London. Connie Willis continues to amaze me with her immense ability to interlace historical information, references to arts and literature, and character development without missing a beat. Don't miss the other half of the book in "All Clear!"

American Gods is a stunningly exceptional modern day mythology tale - It is absolutely worth a read by anyone who enjoys a sinister sense of humor and a magical mindset.
