Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Hunger Games 01

I could NOT put this book down. I read it in less then 24 hours and I am just in love with the characters and the author and I am dying to get my hands on the next book! Suzanne Collins brings you into a world beyond our time but so close, as terrifying as it is I can see how our cultured would embrace The Hunger Games. She brings us into a world of desperation, of hurt and need that is so real I am never once dropped out of the story by the writing. If you haven't read it you should. I want to tell you so much more but I don't want to spoil it!!!

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
by
Clarke, Susanna

I love the witty and creative writing Mrs. Clarke gives us in this wonderful story about two English magicians. The footnote stories add a level of reality to her story and world that is not often seen by the readers. I love the contrast between Mr. Strange and Mr. Norrell along with several other characters like Childermas and Drawlight. If you are looking to be transported into an English universe of magic and wit this is the book for you. I'm very impressed and please with it.
