I keep this book in the car so I always have something to read if I'm stuck waiting somewhere. This book is well researched, sometimes appalling, and frequently funny. I can't make it more than a few pages before I feel the need to ask the nearest person, "Did you know...?"

I got this book for my eight year old daughter for Christmas. She may one day be a reader, but not quite yet. However, she sped through this book in just a few days! She loved it! She read for a few hours at a time (totally amazing) and asked to read instead of going out to play. I highly recommend this for kids who are just starting to enjoy reading.

Five stars and an exclamation point! I want to give a copy of this book to everyone I know, whether I like them or not, and some people I don't know. Mark Russell has managed to condense the Bible, taking out all of that dry, dusty language that makes reading the Bible such a daunting task. God is Disappointed in You is its essence.

Nonononono. I tried. I really did. I was excited to read this after hearing soi much about it. IT IS TERRIBLE! The writing is atrocious. I couldn't really even get into the spirit of the thing because the writing was so bad. The main character says 'Oh my,' in every other paragraph and EVERY TIME I heard George Takei in my head. If you really want to read some erotic fiction, check out the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by A. N. Roquelaure (Ann Rice). Fifty Shades of Grey is just nonsense.

Now she has to resolve her feelings between the two men in her life, put on a show for the whole country to appease the President, and continue to try to survive.

What a great book! Initially, I wasn’t interested. After seeing the trailer for the movie I decided to give the book a try. I couldn’t put it down and the next day picked up the second book in the series. Katniss Everdeen, her internal struggles, loyalties, and efforts to survive when literally everyone is trying to kill her make for a very spellbinding adventure.

On top of all that, people are starting to wonder if her services are even necessary. And the Nac Mac Feegles are with her the whole time.

Colour Of Magic Discworld 01 Uk
by
Terry Pratchett
Maggie_S
, December 01, 2010
This is an exceptional introduction to the Discworld. It covers nearly every inch of the thing, either in actual visits or through anecdotes. Rincewind and Twoflower begin their journey through Discworld. Twoflower is the first-ever tourist on the Disc. His joy and wonder only serve to irritate and amaze the failed wizard Rincewind who has been hired as the first-ever unlucky tour guide. Throw into the mix a set of Luggage that thinks for itself (and eats people) and a host of nefarious and bumbling characters and you have a true Terry Pratchett masterpiece.

Janie is 16 when she starts to wonder about love. She's been raised by her Grandmother and the old woman wants to make sure the girl is married off to a man who will treat her well, whether love is involved or not. Shortly after the death of her Grandmother, Janie leaves her husband for a smooth talking man with big dreams who seems to offer everything Janie has always wanted. She spends the next 20 years living on a pedestal as the wife of the mayor of all black Eatonville, Florida. When her husband dies, Janie finally meets a man who will love her truly, but the short relationship ends in tragedy. This is a wonderful story about survival, perseverance, and, most importantly, HOPE.

The question, "What makes love stay?" In attempting an answer we learn of the significance of the pyramids on a pack of Camel cigarettes, why red-heads are so fiery, and what, exactly, Argon has to do with everything. Alas, we never do find out what happened to the golden ball. I wish I could memorize the book so that I could then throw it at all those guys who think they're so enlightened and philisophical.

Her foster father teaches her to read at night when she has trouble sleeping and the words and the books turn in to her salvation, in more ways than one.

I bought this book a few years ago so I would have something to pass the time while in a waiting room. It was one of the best random purchases I've ever made. Set during and after the Civil War, it's the story of a woman struggling with pain, death, war, love, doing what's right and doing what needs to be done. The writing is beautiful and moving. I bought several copies to give as gifts and I recommend it to anyone.

Diary Of A Young Girl The Definitive Edition
by
Frank, Anne
Maggie_S
, October 30, 2010
Anne Frank was so beautiful and optimistic! She had so many huge dreams for her future. The whole time I was reading I kept looking for some hint of foreshadowing; waiting to see if she knew what was in store for her. Despite her two years in hiding in such close quarters with everyone else; despite her entire world being narrowed down to a handful of other people and having to make luxuries of things everyone else takes for granted as necessities, young Miss Frank not only maintained a cheerful outlook but she even thrived! I can't imagine that I would have been as strong as she was. I wish this were a work of fiction. I wish Anne Frank had a chance to grow up. She would have set the world on its end! She is a wonderful, vivacious girl and her death was a tragedy for everyone who came after.

However, I could definitely relate to the inner turmoil of the main character, Taylor Young. As it happened, once I started, I didn’t stop reading until I was finished with the whole book.

I cringed every time Cannie thought she needed to get back with her sleezy ex-boyfriend. I couldn't believe that she would continue to humiliate herself for this guy who didn't seem to have any redeeeming qualities. Even though the ending was predictable, I was so happy for her that she had found herself. The events and situations the characters had to respond to seemed to alternate between far-fetched and predictable but the voice of the main character, Cannie Shapiro, saved the story. She is immensly likeable, self depricating, and just plain funny.
