Shadow Man

Who was Miles Archer? What sort of detective was Hammet, really? The author investigates a long-dead case, bring the reader along for a ride through a noir landscape replete with all the dangerous dames and double-crosses we love and expect. I totally recommend this for anyone who ever read and love Hammet, Chandler, or any of those old-school pulp writers.

House of Holes A Book of Raunch
by
Nicholson Baker

Absolutely brilliant book of smut, obscenity, and pornography. Nicholson Baker winks at us with the over-the-top language and open, frank look at sexuality in its bare form. I was laughing and blushing through the whole (hole) book.

Donald Ray Pollock's follow-up to Knockemstiff is stellar. Raw-boned and real. You'll squirm as you turn every page. It don't get no better than that.
