I enjoyed this book. It is the second novel in the trilogy. This was a very good sequel to it's predecessor. Amazing book! The author didn't waste time retelling what happened in the previous book. She adds one or two sentences to sum it up.

Rat Bastards The Life & Times of South Bostons Most Honorable Irish Mobster
by
John Red Shea

, June 14, 2010
This is a true story. In the Irish Mob from Southie Boston all but one were "rats" meaning they named names to police. "Red" was the only one who kept his mouth shut about what was done and who did what. Because of that he went to jail. He is now living life and abiding by the laws and wrote this book about his experiences in the Mob. I found this book very interesting and scary at the same time. I really enjoyed it.

Brand new series. I really enjoyed this book.It is very fun and different. The characters are well developed and the plot is strong. This was a very interesting retelling of the Cinderella story. I enjoyed it a lot. My only complaint is that I wish the cover synopsis was more clear that is lesbian love story. I have no problems with the content, I was surprised by the twist. Ash falls in love with a huntress instead of a prince. I really enjoyed it and would recommend this story to many readers. Lo created a vivid and dark world, but it was captivating and beautiful. It's a very good beach read if your looking for something fast and fun.

Murder Of Angels

Ms. Kiernan is an amazing author. She has a very fertile imagination and she paints such a vivid picture with her word that the reader feels like it's happening right in front of them and they are a part of the story. I loved this book and every book by her I have found. She creates a world of mystery, intrigue and throws in an element that reminds the reader of Stephen King. This is the sequel to the book "Silk".

As all of Mr. King's books, this was amazing. This book is very scary, it can cause some readers to sleep with the lights on. The Overlook hotel, is not a place anyone wants to be during the winter when it is closed. Scary things happen and the care takers have a tendency to become victims. This is a must read for any fan of Mr. King!

Very, very, well researched and written. This book helped me understand why I hurt myself when I was a teen. The author was very frank in her writing, but it never came across as rude or dumbing down. This is a wonderful book that everyone should read if they hurt themselves or know someone who hurts themselves and they want to know why. Or even if a person is curious about why people hurt themselves. I tell everyone to read this book, it is very insightful to an outsider and even helpful to an SIer.

Very cute. One of the best in the series. Ms. Sands is an amazing story teller. Rachel, is one of her strongest female characters in the whole series. I just loved this book. Sands is funny and she pulls the reader into the story. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes supernatural romances. One of the best vampire series I have found. My only complaint is that the Atlantis story is explained in every book.

Wizards First Rule Sword of Truth 1
by
Terry Goodkind
anitaballerina
, June 01, 2010
This is an amazing epic fantasy tale. In book one, Mr. Goodkind introduces the reader to his world. For some readers it may start out slow as he was setting everything up in order for the reader to understand what was going on in the world at the time. Book one throws the reader into a whirlwind tale of good and evil. Love, loss, sacrifice, lies and truths. This is a must read for anyone who loves fantasy novels. Mr. Goodkind is on the same level as the greats Jordan and Martin. A great great read.

Lovely Bones MTI
by
Alice Sebold
anitaballerina
, May 30, 2010
First of all, it should be said that this could be a very difficult book emotionally for some people. I was one of those people. Aside from that, Sebold, herself is a victim of rape, her true story can be read in her book "Lucky". Lovely Bones, is about a girl who was murdered and raped. The premise of the book, is the girl in Heaven, looking down and seeing how everyone is reacting to her death and the hunt for her killer. The book is well-written and very raw. Sebold, doesn't stray away and is not afraid to shock or possibly offend the reader. I picked up the book on a recommendation of an English Teacher who had taught it in one of her classes. I must say, I was glad she told me about it. The book is very poignant, it has a very strong voice and I think it is well worth the read.

This is Mr. McCout's second book. It picks up where Angela's Ashes leaves off. "Tis takes place when Mr. McCourt arrives in New York. Again his story is both beautiful and sad at the same time. Mr. McCourt was truly gifted with words. 'Tis is followed by the last of his books, "Teacher Man." I cannot recommend a group of memoirs more then then these.

This was an amazing book, I enjoyed every page of it. It is filled with very short chapters that read more like short memories. It didn't seem to be very organized, but I think that added to it in an odd way. The book takes s through the authors memories while she was in a mental hospital. We get a rare inside look at how it was back then in the hospitals. It is a truly beautiful and moving book. I wish it was longer that is really my only complaint about the book.

Cut
by
Patricia Mccormick

, May 26, 2010
As a former cutter myself, I appreciate the idea that the book had. However, the author supposedly researched the disorder before writing the book. I failed to see any evidence of that. The book itself seemed very sophomoric and lacked any real insight. It also needed more editing then it had. The portrayal of the rehab center was very disappointing to me. I found the book to jump around and it was just, not a book for me. The main character seems to be being blamed for the fact that her father is working so many hours to keep her in rehab. I think this book could have been longer and could have explained the issues of the disorder and why people Self-harm better. A good non-fiction book on the subject is A Bright Red Scream. By Strong.

Devils Knot The True Story of the West Memphis Three
by
Mara Leveritt
anitaballerina
, May 26, 2010
I agree with everything the other reviewer has said. This case was a huge miscarriage of justice. Since this book was published, there is even more evidence pointing away from the WM3. All 3 men are still going through the appeals process 17 years later. This is a great book, it breaks down the FACTS of the case of the WM3. The author was there and saw it all. I think she did an amazing job in showing what both sides where thinking at the time. Though it is clear that the WMPD was biased and they locked up 3 innocent boys now 3 innocent men. (All because in the middle of West Memphis Arkansas, 3 teenagers stood out by wearing black and listening to bands such as Metallica. Their choice of music and the fact that they wore black, was used as "evidence" against them in this case.) 3 innocent 8 year old boys were found dead in the woods, with no real evidence, the WMPD arrested Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley (who has an IQ of 72, which makes him legally mentally handicap). The police lied to Misskelley, getting a false confession, they knew it was false as it did not line up with the facts of the case. They ran with it anyway. Along with book I think it would be beatifical to watch the documentaries Paradise Lost and Paradise Lost 2 as well as read the book Almost Home that was written by Damien Echols.

I simply loved this book. Ms.Kiernan wrote a spooky tales surrounding a real tree. Sarah, the main character in the book is an author and has moved to RI. She is trying to write a new book while living in the middle of now where. She has roommate who lives upstairs who is an artist. The pair go to the tree, but are spooked by what they find there. At times it seems like they have been walking for hours and the tree is not getting any closer how can this be? The story has many plot twists and whole book was a thrilling ride that I loved.

Twilight: Twilight 1
by
Stephenie Meyer
anitaballerina
, May 25, 2010
This book was really really bad. Aside from the grammatical errors, the characters are very Mary-Sue and it's obvious that Bella Swan (Literally Beautiful Swan ew) is a self-insertion of the author. The book promotes unhealthy relationships. Bella is clingy and whinny. Not to mention that she lets Edward control her and he is borderline mentally abusive. Edward stalks her and breaks into her house and watches her sleep, um Breaking and entering is illegal. He's over 100 and she is 17, he's a creepy pedophile. I would not let my daughter read this book. Girls need to learn what a healthy relationship is and is not Twilight.

Hush, Hush
by
Becca Fitzpatrick
anitaballerina
, May 25, 2010
I picked this book up at the library because the cover looked interesting. I was disappointed. It was a 5 star cover on a one star book to sell the book. The characters lacked depth, emotion and development. I read this book in a day, not because I liked it, because I wanted to get it over with. I am still wondering what the book is REALLY about. There was no symbolism and there was no mystery or suspense. To me it was way to one-dimensional. The characters felt like windows, too see through and as fake as a nose job. I do love the idea of fallen angels, but for me this was a dud. Fallen, by Lauren Kate is a much better fallen angel book. I don't condemn anyone who likes the book or disagrees with my opinion. But I suggest you save your money and skip this book. Needless to say I was glad I picked it up from the library and didn't buy it, I'd be asking for a refund.

I really enjoyed this book. Shapiro is funny and her characters are well rounded. It was a very fast read, but well worth it. The book is about a Jewish girl, who is obsessed with anything and everything English. We learn that the obsession began when she was a child and read Oliver Twist, she had thought that he must be good looking. She meets an Englishmen and we get to follow her on her adventures with him. (I don't want to give anything away) If you like cute, funny quick reads that are well written, then this is the book for you. Great for a hot summer day staying in. This book is in my permanent library.

Murder in Italy The Shocking Slaying of a British Student the Accused American Girl & an International Scandal
by
Candace Dempsey
anitaballerina
, May 24, 2010
This book is beyond bias. It's very clear that the author is trying to get sympathy for Knox, instead of telling the truth. It's so slanted it's not even funny. The author went to Italy once or twice and is playing reporter and is reporting the same garbage that was portrayed to the American people. I have a friend who lives in Italy and was explaining about the Italian court system,to me. I wanted to understand how they try cases so I would not have a BIAS view of the case. I also have a friend who when to high school with Knox and we talked about the case as it was unfolding. My friend who knows Knox followed the FACTS of the case not the bias garbage that Team Knox was putting out into the American public. If you want to know about this case, PLEASE educate yourself. Read the BBC's articles on their site about the case, read Angle Face by Barbie Latza Nadeau, she was there the whole time, she speaks Italian, what we forget is often things really do get lost in translation. Please get ALL the facts before you say Knox is innocent or guilty. This case was not a Salem Witch trial. America got a very slanted view, Knox's family paid people off to report things in a way that made it seem like Amanda Knox was being hung and was innocent. When presented with the facts, questions need to be asked about what all the American public did not hear, and why it's so slanted in the States.

This was an amazing and captivating book. The author did not hold back at all. She is very blunt about her work as a call girl. It is an eye opening read and I would recommended it to anyone. It unmasks an underground world that a lot of people have wondered about but dare not enter. The author published a collection of her blog postings when she was working as a London call girl to pay the bills. A wonderful book that will be in my permanent library.

Angel Face The Real Story of Student Killer Amanda Knox

, May 16, 2010
I remember hearing about this case when I was at school. A good friend of mine from Seattle knew the girl at the heart of this murder. I heard stories about her and was glued to the tv and internet for information. After following the case and reading articles in American papers and articles from the BBC, I found this book. I picked it up and it was amazing. The author was there in Italy had a front row seat to how everything happened. She did a good job at presenting both sides and letting the reader decided if justice was served or not. One thing the author reminds the reader of is that it was all done under Italian Law. Something a lot of people tend to forget. If you are interested in true crime or the whole story on this one, then I would strongly suggest that you read this book. Very good and very insightful.

Enchanted Erotic Bedtime Stories for Women
by
Nancy Madore
anitaballerina
, May 16, 2010
Wonderfully written! Madore did a fantastic job at re-writing classic fairtales with an erotic twist. She was able to capture the story and throw in a dash of erotic powder and brew an amazing book! She is gifted in writing erotica without embarrassing her reader or as another reviewer has said make the reader feel like a dope. She doesn't "write down" (like when a person is talked down to.) She writes without it being raunchy, it's very tasteful but still hot. I would recommend this to anyone woman that likes erotica or one that wants to see what it's all about, but feels intimidated or embarrassed. I love Ms. Madore's writing and I hope she writes more soon.

This is the book that took me from liking the series to loving the series. More drama in the town, more Sookie and more Eric! More of what we love in this series and it would not be a Charlaine Harris book with out plot twists! This one does not disappoint! I highly recommend this one.

Vampires Are Forever Argeneau Family 08

, April 21, 2010
I enjoy this series and these 2 main characters are some of my favorites in the series. In the book the 2 are looking for Thomas' Aunt who has gone missing. It is a well told and well written story in which the author keeps the reader guessing about the missing Aunt till the very end of the book when the reader learns everything. As always, the characters are well developed and are very strong, they have their strengths and their weaknesses which is important for any story. My only complaint about the book is that I really wish the author did not tell the story of how the vampire race came to be in every single book of the series. But I guess she does it so that one doesn't have to read the books in order. All in all it is a quick fast, and fun read.

Moving. Beautiful. Sad. True. Four words that mean so much. This is the most moving book I have ever read. The pain Mr. Wiesel went through seeing what was happening to his people. Experiencing the evils of Hitler's Germany first hand all because he is Jewish. This is a book that every young person should read at least once in their life to have some sort of an idea of what happened, this book is more eye opening then any history class in high school. Powerful amazing a must read.

This is such a moving story. Mr. McCourt (God rest his soul) takes on a journey of his childhood in poverty stricken deperession era Limerick Ireland. The struggles he went through having to grow up very fast as his father was an alcoholic that didn't always come home and seeing the struggles his mother dealt with trying to keep a roof over her childrens head was simply captivating. It was a sad story and truly makes you rethink before you complain about how bad you have it. Mr. McCourt was truly a wonderful storyteller and a man who went through a lot.

I have read the first 3 books and I love them all. Ms. Gabaldon is a very talented author who's imagery in her books so good it makes the reader feel like they are there with the characters. This is an amazing series and the time travel aspect is very interesting.

Dishy, juicy, wonderful! Pick a word all of these are a perfect fit to describe Ms. Kate's first novel. This is a very different kind of story then Ms. Kate's other novel "Fallen". Natalie is a girl who lives in Palmetto with her single mother. The pair of them are climbing the social latter a 'rags to riches' type of thing. Nat is queen bee of her school and she relishes it. Her boyfriend Mike is not as enthusiastic as she is about their status. Nat is obsessed with winning the title of Palmetto Princess an award that her high school has like a homecoming queen. However, at a party the pair make a deadly mistake. Nat and Mike then scramble to cover up what they did all the while their relationship is taking a toll. The end came as a huge shock to me I never thought it would have ended as it did. This is an amazing book and I recommend it to everyone great book, I wish it was longer then it was.

Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three

This is a great book, it breaks down the FACTS of the case of the WM3. The author was there and saw it all. I think she did an amazing job in showing what both sides where thinking at the time. Though it is clear that the WMPD was biased and they locked up 3 innocent boys now 3 innocent men. Along with book I think it would be beatifically to watch the documentary Paradise Lost and Paradise Lost 2 as well as read the book Almost Home that was written by Damien Echols one of the WM3.

I have been following the case of the WM3 since I was 17 I am now in my early twenties. Hearing the account from Damien is amazing. He doesn't go through the trial, because he feels that people reading the book know about the trial. I would agree with that. I must say I disagree with people who think Damien is a bad egg ect. It's simple, he was prosecuted because he stood up to say "I am a Wiccan"

Great follow up up to the first two books in the series. The ending is a lot to handle and Ms. Moning has assured readers that it was necessary. I would recommend reading the fourth book right after when all becomes clear.

In the second book of Ms. Moning's fever series, we find Mac right after book one ended. Still on her journey to find her sister's killer, Mac is faced with more threats. This is my favorite of the fever series, full of new suspense and new characters.

Amazing, insightful, touching, empowering. All of these words can accurately describe this book by Criss Angel. In this book, he tells about how he got to be where he is and everything he went through to get there. He touches briefly on his divorce. And he dedicates a touching chapter to his father who passed away. It is clear that he was very close to his father and misses him very much. Talented Magician, Musician and author Criss Angel has it all. Any fan of his should read this book.

This is the first book by this author. She is from the North West. I loved every word of it. I had the privilege of working with the author for a while and she told me about her book, as an avid reader I was intrigued by her description of it. I ran out and bought it. And I am SO glad I did. This truly is a twisted love story. Full of mystery and suspense. I do hope the author publishes her next book soon as I can't wait to read it!

As a huge fan of Mr. King I waited to read this book, I got it from a library and devoured it. Out of the 14 stories, my favorite was by far Shawshank redemption. (The story that the film is based on.) Such a chilling book as are all of Mr. Kings books. This is truly a book to read for everyone. Mr. King truly is the master of Horror.

I got this book from a friend of mine in Australia. I was skeptical as I am not a huge fan of this era of history. However I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked how Ms. Gleason created her characters. She has given her own spin on the vampire theme. A spin I think worked out very well. I have now read the whole Gardella series and I love them they are in my permanent book collection.

This series by Ms. Moning is very different from the Highlander books she wrote. Romance is not the central point of this book or this series. Mac goes to Ireland to solve the case of the murder of her sister. She is prompted to go when the Irish police force runs into a dead end and closes the investigation with out a murderer. Very fast paced story great characters. This is the first of a 5 part book series the last is due out winter of 2010.

In the first of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Ms. Ward introduces us to the brothers. The Brothers are vampires that are a warrior type of the Vampires. The fight the Lessers. Each of the books deal with one of the brothers as the main story. This one deals with Wrath the king of the vampires. I really enjoyed this novel, a much better more adult form of the Twilight Vampire/human/half vampire love story. Ms. Ward is a very gifted author who develops her characters wonderfully through out the book.

I had never heard of this author until I went to a book tour signing for another author. Mr. Westerfeld was also there promoting his new book. After speaking with him, I was intrigued by his books and now own the uglies series. Uglies is a futuristic book in which people are taken and they are made model beautiful. It's a place where natural beauty is considered ugly. Tally and her friends get together and try to escape the surgery. This book is joy to read and is full of symbolism.

This was the first book by this author I have read. It took a bit for me to get into it, but I did. I enjoyed it and the main girl through all her trials and issues she has to go through, she remains a strong woman. It shows how women were treated during that era and how she struggled to be true to herself. I really liked it and would read it again.

This was the second book by Ms. Dunant I have read. The book is about a woman who disappears and her family is looking for her. It goes back and forth between her and her captor and her family. As a fan of Dean Koontz and Stephen King, not a lot freaks me out. This book however creeped me out. While interesting and well written, however its not one I will pick up again. It was too spooky for me.

Wintergirls was recommended to me by a friend. This friend suffered from Anorexia. The main theme of this book is just that anorexia and eating disorders. The main girl in the book is constantly haunted by the death of her friend who died from an ED. Lia still suffers from her own battle and talks about rehab. The book reflects her thoughts on food and her body. This is a very powerful book and I think that every one should read, parents and teens alike.

Bright Red Scream Self Mutilation & the Language of Pain
by

As a person who struggled with Self-injury I was curios to see how Ms. Strong wrote about this issue. My one big issue with this book is the use of the term Self-mutilation. As a former SI'er I find that term offensive. Aside from that, I like how she interviewed people who are SI'ers. It is a powerful book, but it's not to be read lightly. I think it is a good book for people who know a SI'er to read. If you have struggled with SI, in the past I think this book should only be read if you are in a safe place as it can be triggering.

This book has done what it promised. I do not listen the Beatles the same way anymore! Mr. Niezgoda is a life long fan and he has put a lot of time and effort not to mention research into this book. He has shown there could be underline clues hidden in the lyrics. It takes a new view of the Paul is dead clues and this book suggests that maybe it was John not Paul. (The author is suggesting that John sold his soul to Satan.) There are many clues when put together it all fits and all points to one conclusion. For any Beatles fan, this is a must read.

In Ms. Brennan's debut novel, she crafts a world where demons and magic are alive and well. The first in what she has said to be a trilogy is captivating while leaving questions unanswered hopefully to be answered in later books. The brothers are thrown into a whirlwind tale and they have many surprises that are in store for them. The author throws the reader a few curve balls and the ending was a massive shocker. I highly recommend this book and the author. The author herself is a very friendly person who you can tell loves her book and what she does if the chance arises for anyone to meet her on a book tour go!

This is the first book I have read by Mr. Koontz. He was recommended to me by a fan of his work when they found out I was huge fan of Stephen King. Mr. Koontz weaves an amazing tale of deception and will to live. With so many twists and turns to the story I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Your heart belongs to me is a page turner that will keep the reader guessing until the last page. I am now a big fan of Mr. Koontz's work and recommend him to everyone I talk to. He will appeal to the fans of Mr. King as well.

Fallen: Fallen 1
by
Lauren Kate

First of all I want to say that this is Ms. Kate's second novel, but the first of hers I have read. I am in my twenties and not a very big fan of YA novels. When I got this book I was not expecting very much out of it. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Ms. Kate is a very gifted story teller with a fertile imagination. The novel starts out with a confusing first few pages that dont make sense until later in the novel when one of the characters explains some things. Daniel and Luce are well rounded characters and as a reader I could not help but like them. Luce tells Daniel that she feels a connection with him and he denies it. Through out the book you see this come up time and time again. (But I don't want to give too much away) Ms. Kate has taken the theme of fallen angels and crafted a wonderful story about a pair of star crossed lovers. She gives her characters wonderful detail and character development which I think is hard to find now days. There are a number of books which I have read where there is a huge lack of development in the characters. Fallen is book one of a four part series, on her website Ms. Kate said that the second book is due out this September, a book I am eagerly waiting for. I would highly recommend this book to a reader at least age 14 and up.
