Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness

One of the most common comments is "Oh to develop muscle you HAVE to eat meat." No you don't. You dont' even have to use milk products. If you wonder how a Vegan Bodybuilder can do it, the book tells you how and gives you sample meal plans. A must for any bodybuilder so they can stop worrying over protein because after reading the book, you'll know how to get enough on a plant based meal. And the neat thing? It will help if the doctor is nagging you about Cholesterol. Meatless Monday's are in fashion so why not meatless bodybuilding. Good for those wanting to go Vegetarian and good for those who just want to cut out meat a bit. My gym manger looked through my copy and told me "There is some good stuff in there." And he knows what he is talking about.

Vegetarian Cooking For Everyone
by
Deborah Madison

I purchased the cookbook and so far every recipe I have tried has ended up in dire need of fixing. They always leave me scrambling at the end when I make them so I don't hear "DO NOT serve me this again." Also the directions on some leave a lot to be desired. For example one recipe says add flour to the water you are cooking it in then drain the water. The flour did absolutely nothing. Either the author needs to learn what ingredients do or needs a much better editor. The book is currently holding my computer screen to a good height. That rates a 5. For food? 1 or 2.

Dr Dean Ornishs Program For Reversing He
by
Ornish, Dean
P J
, May 05, 2009
After reading and starting the diet, the cholesterol test showed an overall score of 109. It has remained below 140 for the past 4 years reflection on how closely the other half has followed the diet. While keeping the other half company on the diet, I lost 100 pounds in 6 months, all of which returned when I resumed the SAD. The most recent exam of other halfs system showed no changes at all from the last exam 4 years ago. The disease has not progressed. The most recent changes we have made is to follow the diet more strictly in hopes of creating a reversal instead of no changes. Basic? It works if you work it. I recommend the book for anyone who has heart disease and wants to live.

The Ilbert Bill

Full of lots of recipes written in old fashioned cookbook style. They are basic recipes which you can easily modify to your tastes. I use it all the time for a reference and have my favorites marked. It isn't the modern showy one or two recipes per page. There are more than that on each page. It is one of my kitchen books while the others reside in the library I have in my home.

Bold Vegetarian Chef Adventures in Flavor with Soy Beans Vegetables & Grains
by
Ken Charney

Charney's book is excellent. I have made quite a few recipes from it and each is a five star. His Dark meat Seitan and his Light meat seitan are both very good and very easy plus they are extremely easy to modify. He also teaches about the ingredients on the pages making it easier for you to modify to your taste and to better understand and seek recipes that will suit you.

Everyday Cooking with Dr Dean Ornish 150 Easy Low Fat High Flavor Recipes
by
Dean Ornish
P J
, March 27, 2008
Actually it isn't just a cookbook. It's a primer of cooking with extremely low fat methods. It isn't just for those seeking a low fat diet or cutting back on fat but also for those who wish to learn different methods of cooking and learn a bit more about cooking period. The recipes are excellent. Dean Ornish is big on taste and some of the best chefs in the country contributed to this because they were challenged to cook low fat and make it taste as good as high fat. My copy is getting very worn.

When I purchased this, I wasn't looking for this book. I found a great book by accident. The recipes are Quick, easy and good. It turned into a keeper and part of my main collection which I keep in the kitchen for quick use. [The other of the 500 are in the office] I can always fall back on this book when I can't figure out what to cook. [Yeah I know.. 500 cookbooks and you have a problem figuring out what to cook...]

This was excellent. Every recipe I have tried has turned out great. The recipes are also very easy to alter to create a new taste. I'm very please with this one and it has become one of the cookbooks I use all the time. My crockpot gets a LOT more use thanks to this book. The recipes suit the Vegetarians and also the meat eaters. They are simply excellent vegetable recipes.

Vegetable Dishes I Cant Live Without
by
Mollie Katzen
P J
, March 27, 2008
The recipes were not something I couldn't live without. I wasn't pleased with this book at all. In fact this is the first cookbook I ever donated to the library in my entire life. My collection of 500 other cookbooks will testify to that. I hold on to any or all. This one had recipes that didn't suit my taste and were simply too complicated to bother to try. And sadly it also bored me. I was very disappointed. I expected much more of this author.

Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone
by
Deborah Madison
P J

The recipes tend to be a bit off for my taste but that is ok. Not everyone has the same taste. What troubles me is when she writes things like put flour in the water then drain the floured water off. Doesn't someone proof read her recipes? No one cared too much for the recipes themselves. However, the book does do a wonderful job of holding my screen to the correct height and also right now is serving as an excellent door stop. Thank Goodness I got it at a library sale. I would hate to pay full price for a door stop. I'm afraid I wouldn't save this from a fire. I would use it to start the fire.
