Great Fairy Tale Tradition From Straparola & Basile to the Brothers Grimm
by
Jack David Zipes

Your mind will always be piqued with this edition. As a Norton edition, it is intended for study. Yet this is a Jack Zipes book, a mark of quality and erudition. And this book extends beyond Jack Zipes more usual German literature of the Grimm brothers. A few essays in the back, but the main work are fascinating comparative tales from several cultures and eras. As a fairytale book, the stories are short and can be picked up anytime. Yes, they included some classic illustrations. Your mind will always be piqued with this edition, despite the few footnotes. Good style and comparative themes will make you look at fairy stories in a new way.
