New Literature in Translation: December 2022 and January 2023
(0 comment)
It may be a new year, this may be a list of new books, but our love for literature in translation hasn’t changed at all, and we are so pleased to be enthusiastically recommending these recent releases. Faith Club A Muslim a Christian a Jew Three Women Search for Understanding
by

Truly an avenue to understanding, this book recalls the struggles and discoveries as three women of different faiths and backgrounds work to comprehend their differences and find their common ground. The beginning, while sometimes slow-going, is well worth the effort to reach the results these three women find. People of any faith or no faith should read this fine example of patience and desire to find common ground and accept that which is not common.

Island

As I read, I kept expecting some depth. The book turned out to be a fairy tale, where everyone lives happily ever after. True, many are looking for mindlessness for their summer read, but there were so many opportunities to make a statement that were lost. Childhood love comes to fruition, divorced husband returns a changed and sensitive man, true and "forbidden" love triumphs in the end.
