Wizards First Rule Sword of Truth 1

Terry Goodkind

I think this is one of the best fantasy books/series I've ever read. This first book sucked me right in. Terry Goodkind knows how to write an amazing story. The first couple books are monsters, and you'd think that there would be lulls in such a large book, but you'd be wrong. It never gets boring, and sweeps you right along until the last page.

Wind Through the Keyhole A Dark Tower Novel
by
Stephen King

I absolutely loved the Dark Tower series, and was sad when I finished the last book. So I was thrilled when he announced a new book. It was very interesting to read more about Roland and his past. I recommend this to anyone who loved the Dark Tower books as much as I did.

This is the perfect example of a good, classic thriller. It has great characters, a unique plot, and lots of action. The only bad thing? You might lose some sleep because you won't want to stop reading.

This is Stephen King at his best. This amazing story will keep you reading late into the night. It's books like this that make me extra thankful that he didn't retire.

Ivory & The Horn
by
Charles De Lint

This is a wonderful book of short stories. Charles de Lint has an amazing way with words. His modern fantasy stories sweep you up and take you into a world similar to ours, but with some interesting and curious things happening. The characters in the stories are always interesting, making me want to know more about them. Lucky for me, de Lint's characters show up in multiple books.

Ill Be Watching You
by
Charles De Lint

This story is a bit different, a little darker, than de Lint's typical books. Don't let that scare you away. de Lint has this way with words and stories that always just grab you right from the beginning. The stories flow so well, and the characters are so interesting you don't want to stop reading. This book is no exception. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I loved this story. I kept trying to put myself into the main characters shoes, and imagine what it would be like to only be able to communicate with gestures. I thoroughly enjoyed stepping into his life and reading about the failures and successes. It's a heartfelt book that will stick with you for a long time.

What an amazing end to a wonderful series. I don't normally read the YA books, but I had heard so many good things about this series from friends that I just had to see for myself. I'm glad I did. The storyline and the writing is superb. I didn't want to put any of these books down. The characters were well developed... so much so that you get attached to them.

Dreams Underfoot

De Lint, Charles

Depending on what review you read, or which list you look at, this is sometimes considered the first book in de Lint's Newford series. Chronologically, it's the second, although all of his books can be read in any order. The advantage to reading them in order is the same characters will show up in different novels. de Lint's style of writing flows like water, taking you along on an amazing adventures of magic and fantasy.

Sometimes a series starts getting old and tired, but not this one. This is the 7th book in the series, and I still found myself reading furiously, wanting to know what happens next. This grand saga, filled with drama, history, love and suspense is a must read. Every person I have suggested this series to has been pulled in, reading every book in the series as quickly as they could.

If you've never read anything by Charles de Lint, you should. This is the first of his Newford series, and a great place to start your discovery of this brilliant author.
