Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Persuader: Jack Reacher 7

This book hooked me right from the beginning, which needless to say is not an easy task. Reacher sees a potential kidnapping taking place and in typical Jack Reacher fashion decides to intervene, which has some completely un-thought of consequences. It's a perfect example of an edge of the seat thriller!! The best part was that this book keeps you so engaged that it's a surprise to know you've reached the last page. The "Bad Guys" present a formidable challenge to Reacher. He doesn't seem quite so invincible in this book, which only makes the story better. Must read...

Sense of Direction Pilgrimage for the Restless & the Hopeful
by
Gideon Lewis Kraus
Addy
, June 19, 2012
Gideon Lewis-Kraus takes the readers on a bittersweet journey... his walks through northern Spain and south east Japan. His description of the landscape is vivid and beautifully written, at times almost poetic. You end up understanding and empathizing with his frustrations and his anguish. This book is enormously profound and moving, and can't fail to touch even the most jaded!
