It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

To fly from circus to shady coffee shops, taxi cabs, murder and mystery into the darkness under nightime bridges to end up in perhaps the best place of all -- beside bookcases laden with tumbling stories. I was fortunate to find this title last year published by Anansi Press, and would read it again -- many times.

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children

An exceptional story that dips into fantasy, sci-fi, history, travel (both time and familiar)and of course some very peculiar children. The story line is held together securely with a series of "found pictures" illustrating (and verifying) the title.

A story that can be both gentle and disturbing. When you finish reading, the book must closed quietly, so as not to disturb an old man's life.

My comment is only for the marvelous title of this collection of African Folk tales -- Bury My Bones But Keep My Words. It is what every true writer aspires to -- a dream, a goal for a life's work. To Be Read long after they are around to do the reading. Thanks for this.
