    Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall

No one can make a tragic situation sound hilarious and find more pathos in the funny. Udall's stories are consistently excellent.

    Apologize Apologize by Elizabeth Kelly
    Paulette, August 25, 2010
The Flanagans are ecstatic about sorrow and blur the line between lunacy and rational choice. The main character, Collie, plays the straight man in this bittersweet coming of age in the midst of a crazy family tale. Told in an episodic fashion, Collie's life can be incredibly funny or intolerably sad...most often at the same time. Couldn't put it down.

Fraction Of The Whole by Steve Toltz
    Paulette, January 04, 2010
A story so outrageous every word rings true.

    White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
    Paulette, January 22, 2009
An insightful comparison between "old" and "new" political and social systems only to find out the emotional results are just the same.
