Weavers Daughter A Regency Romance Novel

Kate has a boldness, a conviction that runs deep. Her family's beliefs have been a powerful compass for her loyalty and commitment to those she loves... those she strives to serve... and those whose future is being threatened. When Henry Stockton returns from the grave, she discovers that "past" assumptions causes actions that leads to a starvation of the soul. "If war had taught him one thing, it was that the things he thought mattered no longer did so." Henry has just returned from the war. He was prepared for the initial shock that his living might cause his family, what will create havoc will be the truth behind his family's business. Henry has much to do if he is going to bridge generational choices with new perspectives. With Kate's help... maybe his desire for change might become a path for everyone in the village. What can hope, grit, and faith produce in the midst of falsehoods, deceit, and assumptions? Is it possible to lead others into an "united" perspective of success? Is life, family, and future worth the changes within your heart? Is it really possible to "see" someone beyond what has always been assumed? Hope, trust, and faith can lead to a change for tomorrow, MrsK

Leo doesn't like white. Life isn't white! Listening to others is a good way to avoid the white. Leo has friends, he even has a girl he likes, her name is Beatrice. Yet, his life is different from kids at school. His difference comes from his unique perspective about people and life. Being 16 isn't a smooth transitional period of life. Hating the Dreamer will turn Leo's outlook upside-down because ignorance can't remain comfortable. The Dreamer entered Leo's life as a substitute teacher. "To grasp beauty from anywhere and share it..." According to Leo, the Dreamer writes well on his blog. The Dreamer inspires curious minds in the classroom. Can he bring history alive to these students? Will his guidance help his students prepare for adult-hood? Change is in the air at this high school. Silvia is insightful, loyal, and always goes the extra mile for Leo. Her dream is to become an artist. Silvia always "forces" Leo to go deeper in his thoughts, actions, and beliefs. Will she help him make sense about Beatrice's future? What will be the cost to their friendship? Beatrice is one of Leo's dreams. She appears perfect in every way. That is until Leo discovers that her blood cells are in a war for her life. Leo is determined to help Beatrice live, even if it means giving her his blood, his free-time, his heart, and even his future. It is a rare find when a book engages you to the point of pondering wisdom and life. Crafted with depth, these characters will remain witnesses throughout your life... MrsK

Precious Moments: Little Book of Thanks
by
Precious Moments and Jean Fischer
Kim Shealy
, August 20, 2018
Are you one of the Precious Moments collectors? I remember back when my husband and I were dating, oh so long ago, and our local news paper would publish a Precious Moments box (in fact, I still have one of the first ones he cut out for me). As sweet and delightful as ever, this little board book immediately provides an endearing smile, a heartfelt inspiration, and "precious moments" of discussion for every reader and little one. The seasonal theme provides snapshots of childhood discoveries leading up to Thanksgiving day. All poems and prayers are crafted in a praise format. Giving thanks to our Lord, to those who love us, as well as the special gifts we receive on a daily basis is delightfully crafted with illustrations which portrays the innocence of youth. May we all have a sprinkling of love and hope on a daily basis, MrsK

Ascent

Peak has found himself in the tropical rainforest of Myanmar. Not exactly his favorite place given the extreme heat, dampness, bugs, and of course venomous reptiles. Even though he is on this trek with Alessia and her body guard Ethan, the alluring target is their planned climb of Hkakabo Razi. One would think that his past life and death climbs would cause Peak a few moments of indecision, but for Peak the planning of a dangerous climb is completely alluring. After all, hanging by a "rope" is just a normal experience for any serious mountaineer. Can you say "extreme chaos!" Peak's adventures are never a calm experience. There are always risks, some are life threatening (mutated strain of malaria, militia, environmental degradation, dangerous wild animal attacks, avalanches, and death). Of course there are minor challenges (extreme weather, treacherous footing, harsh conditions, and the expected "stabs, slices, pokes, bites, and stings"). And yet, for Peak to turn down a climb is like a reader refusing to open a book. He just has to answer the call of the next mountain. If you are an "on the edge" reading junkie, there is no greater thrill than continuing a saga with characters that have "stretched" your every day universe beyond endurance. When Peak was first introduced, I considered him "edgy" and completely ready for any "over the edge" experience. With continued climbing experiences, he has matured into a mountaineer who is now a respected leader. Be brave and enjoy another "Peak" experience, MrsK

With delightful conversation, Olivia's visit to Yosemite becomes a nightmare. Even though her painting is inspirational, some one is either playing games or is setting her up for an extreme step over a cliff. Beautiful landscapes are revealed, park history is expertly woven with in Olivia's story, and a few hints of romance between villainous scenes provides delightful reading. If you enjoy National Parks, being outdoors, and history... this series is perfect for any moment of escape, MrsK

Emilie quickly discovers that Kaylene's youngest daughter knows the truth about that fatal morning. If she recovers, Kaylene must speak with her before she leaves the hospital with her father. Nothing seems right, especially when a video shows her client and daughter fleeing out of the front door... bleeding! Haunted by that video, Emilie's instincts are in overdrive, every day she is growing more uncomfortable about someone watching her. As if her days aren't filled with enough paths to follow, now her faith is being tested. When you hold onto an investigative rope of unknowns, it leads to an end that is frayed, unraveling, and dangerously close to pushing uncertainty into every area of your life. Emilie might be holding on, but will there be enough rope to make a difference? Written with perfected twists and turns this novel will keep you reading with your own guesses, tension that causes you to put the book down and walk away, and determination to stick with Emilie, Reid and Kinley. Coming to Rosemont: The First Novel in the Rosemont Series
by
Barbara Hinske

, January 31, 2018
Maggie Martin first learned of the house from Paul as he was dying. What did he mean the house was for her? She had just inherited Rosemont, of course nothing was too surprising any more. Her life had totally flipped upside down and in so many degrees she didn't know what was real, let alone what could ever be considered "surprising." What she didn't expect was the overwhelming sense of home once she stepped over the threshold of Rosemont. With the key to Rosemont, Maggie discovers beauty can come from the ashes of a life that was lived, shared, and unimaginably untrue. The only security that appeared "real" was the handyman that would help her bring life to Rosemont. A few years her senior, Sam Torres and his wife lived just a few minutes away, which meant they would be the only true security Maggie could rely on. To follow your intuition, to be given a key to a home that would set your life in a new direction, well if your children are grown and your husband has died... Why not? MrsK

Hired Girl

Joan's story begins on the day that Miss Chandler (her teacher) gave her a journal. One in which she was guided to "write in it with truth and refinement." It was the day that would remain planted in Joan's spirit and provide her with the strength to change her life. Her father had decided that she could no longer continue going to school and in 1911, you did what your parents told you to do especially if you are a daughter and your mother is no longer living. Life on a farm with only a dad and brothers meant that Joan was needed at home. Her life was fixed, her days were filled with chores and her free time... well reading was a joy until that fatal decision when her father burns the books that her teacher gave her. Joan boldly leaves the farm. She is heading to Philadelphia with a hope-filled desire to be a servant in a household that will pay her. Her train ride and the young gentleman who befriends her is an eye-opening journey. Once she arrives in Philadelphia, Joan discovers that there is no place to stay and with darkness approaching she is not sure what her options are. With prayer... all things can be made bearable. A young man discovers her on the park bench and refuses to let her sleep in the park. Once Joan is introduced to the Rosenbach family, she begins her journey into adulthood... being accepted into a Jewish family... and discovering the facets of her calling and inner strength. As in all of our lives, being young means that there will be many opportunities to learn your way along a given path. For Joan, her first lesson will be with Malka the treasured cook, nanny, and house keeper. Malka is aging and ailing, this is Joan's perfect opportunity to learn while being a blessing to Malka. That is if Malka will accept her help and the fact that she is a Catholic. Given that Jane Eyre is one of Joan's favorite characters, the Rosenbach's sons are very intriguing to someone so young. Will Joan lose her heart to one of them or will she seek the forbidden education that was so cruelly taken from her? Befriended by Mirele, the Rosenbach's daughter, Joan soon discovers city life and shopping. Imagine buying your first outfit, shoes, gloves, and hat... now imagine the joy of purchasing your first leather book (of course this was my favorite part). When Joan begins experiencing life with the Rosenbach family, she begins enjoying a life she could only read about. And yet, deep within her spirit is the desire to experience schooling, and being free from a life of hard work. A life of her own. Will she find it through marriage? Will she need to leave this family that has brought her in off the streets? What is the path that she must take? Written as a diary, Joan invites us into her thoughts... her choices... her hopes and dreams for a future that is just beginning to unfold. Every character is so well defined. The setting depicts Victorian homes, cultures, cities just moving into the "care free" life style as the age of inventions is sweeping the east coast. This novel is not just for young adults, it is an excellent historical piece and will bring great discussions to any book club. Enjoy meeting Joan and her discoveries as young girl maturing into a young lady, MrsK mrskbookstogo.blogspot

by

, May 30, 2015
With the return from winter break, Sam is excited about the posting of her grades. Like so many other students, the anxious "click" of the mouse will determine the mood of her parents. Only this time around every student will be in for a surprise. Added to the grade dilemma is this semester's reporting assignments. Sam definitely does not welcome Aubrey's nasty attitude. Can there be anything positive about that one person in school whose mission is to destroy and put down everything you do? At the end of the day, a wave of commotion is heard down the hall as students discover that their grades will cause all of their parents to go ballistic. What was going on? Isn't the grading system secured enough to prevent tampering? Who would change everyone's grades? How did they change everyone's grades? Now that's a story, and Sam is on the record. Is grade tampering, especially at this magnitude even possible? As Sam pulls the scrunchie off her wrist and wraps her hair into her "thinking do," she begins her investigative reporting. Did you know that a computer virus has its own thumbprint? Would her father's Chief of Police allow a teenager to "hack" into the school's computer drive to look for evidence? Can she get the best scoops... hopefully... without getting innocent people even deeper in trouble? Will Aubrey "best" her stories? With authentic character voices, believable twists and turns, insightful reporting do's and dont's, Sam will keep you guessing as she "uncovers the truth" and brings the "hackers" to the front of her school's online newspaper. Punishment... violations... expulsions... its all news to Sam, Enjoy this newest Sam Sanderson mystery... I can't wait to read her next byline! MrsK mrskbookstogo.blogspot
