Jar of Hearts
by

Jar of hearts' was different to my usual read in a good way; though there was something about the cover that drew me in and I had to get this book. I was glad I did. 'Jar of hearts' is very well wrote with plenty to keep the reader hooked, following Geo at different parts of her life leading to now from her part in the murder of her best friend to the shocking twist at the finale. This book was not light hearted, easy reading, but it was compelling with believable characters, and a well thought out plot, leaving little to the imagination. Before 'Jar of hearts' I had not heard of this author but I will most probably read more of her work and would recommend this book to a friend. Very good read.

Trenton Makes A Novel

Wow! 'Trenton makes' absolutely blew me away. This might well be my favourite book of the year so far. The plot was shocking and kept me turning the pages one after another right till it was finished. I was totally captivated by this book, the characters were real and well portrayed, the reader could look at each one in many different ways, I myself was fascinated by the main character 'Abe' but at the same time I had no empathy towards him. I believe that this book could one day be a classic, it is timeless, and as the author states at the start of the book, not so unbelievable as not to be true. This book is an expertly crafted read, and I could not rate it more highly, I will be recommending this title to friends, and will be reading more by this author.

Munmun

Great concept I was not totally sure what to rate this book as. When it first arrived it looked beautiful, I loved the cover and overall it was of a high quality. When I started reading 'Mun Mun' I was transported to a new world, the author put a lot of work into describing the world and the lives of the characters. The plot also kept me hooked enough to keep on coming back so as to find out what happens to Warner, Prayer, and Usher. Though for as much as enjoyed this book, I feel that it could have been more, the concept was different and I feel that this book will become very popular for that alone, but something about the writing made me cringe from the first page to the last, and unfortunatly I could not shake that feeling. It was a good book, but I feel that it did not live up to its potential and that the writing style will limit this book to perhaps a teen audience.

Devils Half Mile

Enjoyed it The devils half mile' was a good book, it was well wrote and immersive, I could picture New York in the 1790's and all the characters there, following 'Justy' as he first steps of the boat and back to his home. There was plenty happening in the book to keep me turning the pages and I could lose myself in the writing. Though once I put the book down I did not necessarily feel compelled to pick it back up again, because I felt you could open it at any point in the book and feel you hadn't missed much. It was a good book though with a good plot, that I would recommend it to a friend. The detail of the writing was what really made this book for me, from the description of the streets of New York to how the characters spoke to eachother, the writer really takes you to the place of the plot.

It All Falls Down Lib/E

It all falls down' is a great book, that follows the complex main character, Nora in her mysterious and seemingly hopeless search for answers to her biological fathers death, and Brazuca her AA sponser/private detective trying to turn over a new leaf. It was well wrote, I loved every part of it, and it just kept getting better and better. The characters were well developed with plenty of their own issues to make this a real page turner. There were so many twists and tales im the plot, that I couldn't help but read on. I hope there'll be a sequel to this book, I want to read more about the characters, and more from the author, I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, fantastic read!

Friends & Other Liars

This wasn’t my usual read, but I enjoyed the book, and most importantly I kept coming back to it. To begin with I could not put it down, then about half way through my attention began to slip. Though there was something about this book that meant I kept picking it up and reading more; I was glad I did. The writing flowed and helped to encapture the characters better. Who at times I could empathise with, whilst at others I felt nothing for, I feel like the author managed to convey friendship and all the feelings and events that can come with it. The plot wasn’t entirely what I expected, at points it felt like a teenage love story, and I couldn’t quite feel how the story was going to go or if it would reach its conclusion, but it did and it was worth the read. The ending I feel was a perfect way to finish.

On Leopard Rock A Life of Adventures
by
Wilbur Smith
Readerready

This book was absolutely gripping, a total joy to read. Since the book arrived I was not able to put it down. The writing flowed, and I learnt a great deal about South Africa in regard to hunting, politics, mining, ect, this book has just about everything. Wilbur Smith has led a fantastic life filled with adventure and determination. He has saw and done what most can only dream of doing. ‘On leopard rock’ has introduced me to an interesting man/author with plenty of stories to tell, and many novels to read, that I would have otherwise never heard about; though I’m very glad I now do. After reading this book I will definitely be reading more by this author and will be looking forward to more of his work in the future.
